Nah, I prefer to torture my fav character's beloved/partner/Achilles heel.

'Cause that's how I roll. If Sonny is hurt or in danger, I’m sad for Rico, if Rico is hurt/in danger, I’m sad for Sonny. The person who’s actually the hurt one? Meh. I guess that’s why I’m not a typical fan who loves to torture their blorbos. I’d rather focus on the one who’s not being tortured. Maybe that's because I'm more into emotional/psychological pain than physical.

But then, that's the thing - it's not easy if your fav is a strong, independent, stoic, sarcastic character, how you gonna make their torture impactful? Gotta either drug the hell out of them, or... hit them in their weak spot, which is their partner/friend/love interest. Looking at you, Ianto Jones, Al Calavicci, Rico Tubbs, Beth Turner. These are my blorbos, whose job it is to deal with their dramatic/angsty/moody/etc. partners.

I'm like the evil villain who gets at the hero by setting my sights on that one particular person that means the most to them... 😉

I admit some characters suffer so prettily... We all know who they are, and it's usually the fandom favorite. I tend to prefer the less emotional ones, but then it's not easy to break them. Or maybe I just don't want to see them broken. Or maybe some of both.

Summary: Picture, if you will, Sonny and Rico, naked and crouched on either side of a heart-shaped bed, guns pointed… Could be Sonny’s worst nightmare, or a dream come true. He’s inclined to think the former, but Rico is taking advantage of opportunity.

Notes: Inspiration… good lord. Well, it all started with a comment on one of my fics on AO3 that quoted “Take me Home Country Roads,” where I then jokingly threatened to write a fic where S&R had to go to WV. So then, I was scrolling Tumblr when I saw a photo of a bedroom similar to the one described in this story. And then I started thinking about the time I visited WV myself. And Mothman (no, not visiting Mothman, just thinking about him). Oh yeah, and the time there was no room at the inn on another trip. Kind of an amalgam of many trips I took in my youth. You should probably be afraid to read this story, come to think of it.

God, I love this song. The mood it evokes, the soulful lyrics that tell an evocative story, her great voice... I can't believe I've never listened to Amanda's music before now.

I just started listening to more of her music due to this song, but it wasn't the first time I'd heard of her, ironically. Coincidentally, her song "Let It Rain" was featured in an episode of The Sentinel. That was back in the 1990s. Last year I came across someone on Tumblr asking if anyone could help them track down the original music that was used in two episodes of the series. Sadly, there are two songs that were substituted on the DVD releases. I was able to provide the info because my copies are from the original TV run. Amanda's song, "Let it Rain" was used in the broadcast airing of Pennies from Heaven," but isn't on the DVDs (it's also not listed at IMDB either, the replacement song is). The other song was a Depeche Mode song, from Sentinel Too, part one. There could be more replaced music, I guess. That was just the ones the poster noticed were released after the show aired, therefore couldn't have been the original music.

I'm so glad I have off-TV copies of most all my favorite TV shows (and that Miami Vice was so adamant all the original music would be included).

Miami Vice music: AFAIK all the original music from the aired episodes is included on both the discs and the streaming versions. The one exception is the episode "Evan," which is not available for streaming anywhere and only on the discs. Supposedly, this is due to the one song they can't get streaming rights for, Biko, by Peter Gabriel. Some of us are skeptical that the song is the only reason the ep isn't streaming, though. It also deals with sensitive topics: homophobia and a gay cop (which is treated with amazing sensitivity for a 1980s show). It uses the F slur. And it's got a neo-Nazi group in it briefly -- but as for that, there's another more blatant one in a later episode dealing with Jewish people being killed so I would discount that as a reason.

My friends list has gotten a little quiet lately, so I thought I'd see if I can find a few cool new folks ;)

My posting schedule tends to be: this month, I am doing an "Ask me Anything", where I answer one question every day which my friends have asked me, so I post pretty much daily. While I try to keep things light, I also want to feel like I can be myself in my journal and not want to be anxious about where the line towards "too much" would be crossed, if that makes sense?

Also, I am neurodivergent which means that I sometimes put my foot in my mouth without realising it. This has caused misunderstandings to escalate into drama before which I don't want anymore. So please, if I ever say anything that offends you, point it out to me and give me the benefit of the doubt. I promise I never set out to hurt anyone and I will listen, apologize and learn from it.
