Eight years ago today IceSpark and I met at a birthday party hosted by our mutual friend Fayq. IceSpark caught my eye early in the night, but I’m shy with new people so at first I just followed her around like a creeper until I figured out how to say Hello. We hit it off fairly quickly, and apparently she was surprised when I followed up by asking her out on a date. Eight years later we’re still together after many ups and downs, and I’m very happy to have her as both my girlfriend and my best friend.

I had a great weekend on January 10th and 11th. That Saturday I went into work early so I could leave in time to get to [livejournal.com profile] ewysiwyg’s wedding, where I was one of the ushers (listed in the program as one of the Bodyguard B-!s: The Least Sneaky Ninjas). [livejournal.com profile] icespark picked me up for work and drove me down to Bloomington, where the two of us got to watch the rehearsal.

Ewysiwyg’s wedding was structured like a play and held in a theatre. They performed an amusing re-enactment of how they met, bringing the wedding party on stage as they were introduced in the narrative. The play portion was funny and sweet, and when they got to the “And in the end, there was only love” part, [livejournal.com profile] crow_again, the officiator, moved down to join them.

Crow_Again read a ceremony from his BlackBerry. He pointed out that the wedding wasn’t going to be sanctified by god, or the state – as part of Ewysiwyg’s vow not to get legally married until everyone could, regardless of sexual orientation.

Brbe and Ewysiwyg exchanged vows, which were both hilarious and so heartfelt that I almost wound up teary-eyed myself. Next, each of the wedding party either told a story about the bride or groom, or gave potentially shady marital advice.

Brbe and Ewysiwyg invited the guests to speak, and [livejournal.com profile] drakefenwick and I said something along the lines of, "As the original starter B-!s, we are pleased that you found a B-! that makes you this happy, and since we love you, we love Brbe for taking such good care of you."

Crow_Again pronounced them bride and groom, and they kissed before they even exchanged rings. DRAKEFENWICK and I threw open the doors and the guests were released through a long receiving line back into the main reception, with homebrewed mead and awesome food.

I got to see a lot of people I seldom get to – I hugged [livejournal.com profile] unomesowell before I remembered she doesn’t like me anymore (she was very polite and took it well); I got to see [livejournal.com profile] kikiriki for the first time in ages; and [livejournal.com profile] fayq was there with her looking fabulous with her beau.

I hung out with DRAKEFENWICK, Crow_Again, and [livejournal.com profile] peacekaat, and with [livejournal.com profile] that_girl_lola and [livejournal.com profile] elbanditorojo, who were there with their adorable kid. I told Ewysiwyg how absolutely beautiful and sexy she looked in her fishnet-enhanced wedding dress, and I complimented [livejournal.com profile] volta_girl on pulling everything off brilliantly.

IceSpark and I hung out as late and long as we could, and then skipped out to attend Roller Ball, which was fortuitously happening just three blocks away. This year they had a Vegas theme, and when we got there IceSpark’s team kidnapped her for secret business.

Jalyru was at the ball since she is a new striver in IceSpark’s league, and it was fun to hang out with Jalyru and IceSpark most of the night. I got to see Elbe and [livejournal.com profile] nimrod_rules2 as well, although I didn’t get as much of a chance to talk with them at the ball.

Sir Loin had prepared a video showcasing the derby veterans from last year, and there was an award ceremony for best jammer, etc (Kaka Caliente deservedly won MVP). The league framed the jerseys of the retiring athletes, signed by all the league members, which was sad and sweet.

After the planned events there was music and dancing. IceSpark had enjoyed mead at the wedding and brown ale at the ball, so she was relaxed enough to be seen dancing with me in public. Jalyru joined us for grooving with the friends she’d brought along.

The music seemed to start with the 60s (fitting the Vegas theme) and then progress forward in decades. Naturally, I did most of my dancing to 80s songs, discovering just how much work it can be to dance in heavy steel-toed boots.

The company was good, the dancing was fun, and the eye-candy was great – turns out that a room full of inebriated roller girls leads to a lot of hot badass girl-on-girl grinding. Imagine my surprise! *chuckle*

IceSpark and I hung out at late as possible and then headed back to Indy to sleep. I didn’t have plans on Sunday until late in the day, so IceSpark and I got to sleep very late to recover. We’d had an excellent time.

Sunday night I met up with [livejournal.com profile] pandara to celebrate her birthday. I couldn’t afford to take her out to dinner, so we ordered Chinese food and stayed in. We got time alone and the ability to sleep in late together, which she said was a good start to her birthday week.

All in all I had an excellent weekend. Ewysiwyg’s wedding was original and reflected her personality far better than most of the generic church weddings I’ve been to. Roller Ball was a lot of fun, and it was great to have a rare sleep-in day with Pandara.

I had a great weekend, and my week so far has been pretty good so far. Friday night Juho did eventually arrive, and we got to spend a couple of hours catching up. She told me about her plan of attack for succeeding in law school, and it’s interesting and sounds pretty solid to me. She also thanked me for helping her get over some bad stuff over the years, and that made me feel very good. She had to leave early Saturday morning, which was just as well since I had to work.

Saturday after work [livejournal.com profile] hotarugirl met me at my apartment building, and we went out to eat at Cheeseburger in Paradise. After a rather yummy dinner, we went back to my apartment to have some alone time, and then we invited [livejournal.com profile] lildomino over to hot tub with us. We soaked downstairs while I enjoyed the company and the eye candy, and then we all went upstairs to hang out, snuggle, talk, and eventually get some sleep.

Sunday morning [livejournal.com profile] icespark joined us and the four of us went to IHOP to meet Jobe and [livejournal.com profile] elbanditorojo. We had brunch, and then before [livejournal.com profile] lildomino and [livejournal.com profile] hotarugirl headed off so the rest of us geeks could RP. We got started later than we’d planned, but we still had a few solid hours of role-playing, and I had a really fun time. After Jobe and [livejournal.com profile] elbanditorojo had to get home, [livejournal.com profile] icespark spent the night, and even though the both of us were extremely tired, we did take good advantage of having the evening together.

Monday after work I went home and got on the MUX to do some admin stuff. I’d hoped to do some journaling as well, but it turns out the admin work sucked up all of my night, and I didn’t even get a chance to role-play online. [livejournal.com profile] lildomino did come over to keep me company while she studied, so that was a pleasant highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, by the time I finished with my MUX duties [livejournal.com profile] lildomino was fast asleep, but at least I got a chance to snuggle her while we slept.

Last night [livejournal.com profile] icespark and I drove down to Bloomington to attend [livejournal.com profile] lemur_lady’s going-away get-together. We got to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] lemur_lady, her boyfriend S(, Gral, [livejournal.com profile] fayq, and sometimes M@-!, who was flitting back and forth between groups. [livejournal.com profile] lemur_lady and [livejournal.com profile] icespark are both very cute when they’re a little inebriated, so it was fun to hang out with them both. We got back at a somewhat decent hour, which was good, since I had an eye doctor appointment this morning.

Work today has sucked, as they keep fucking with my schedule, which makes it impossible to make my plans. I’m supposed to go see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: An IMAX 3D Experience tonight, but I’m rather stressed at the moment, so we’ll see what we wind up doing. At least now I get to escape work finally, which will start improving things immediately.

Wow. What a great weekend! Friday I hung out with [livejournal.com profile] lemur_lady, who is just really incredible -- I can't wait to see her again. Saturday Caleb, [livejournal.com profile] ewysiwyg, [livejournal.com profile] kopi_luwak, [livejournal.com profile] lemur_lady and I went to Stimuli, which was a blast. We met a bunch of my beloved friends there, and the eye candy and performances were extremely sexy and stimulating. I can't wait for the next one, and I hope next time even more of my friends can go. Sunday my friend J0 visited from Lousiville, and brought his cute GF V@, whom [livejournal.com profile] ewysiwyg and I enjoyed meeting quite a bit. We're definitely have to check in on them next time we're in Louisville visiting [livejournal.com profile] kikiriki. Even tho I only got about two hours' sleep, I'm feeling pretty awake and happy today, and looking forward to leaving work early today to meet [livejournal.com profile] fayq and [livejournal.com profile] volta_girl for a panel discussion on polyamory. Should be fun! Have a great week, everyone! (I hope [livejournal.com profile] ewysiwyg can find a ride home tonight, since I'm leaving town...!)
