If you’re looking to for the 4M party, it’s now being published on Sundays. No need to rush off just yet, though. I need for you to have a say-so in this Battle of the Bands installment. 🙂
I’m continuing to roll with my seasonal themes for Battle of the Bands. Maybe, you picked up on that already. The old weather proverb that inspired my line of thinking says…March winds and April showers bring May flowers and June bugs. I don’t remember all of it, but it’s pretty accurate.
This time, instead of using two cover versions of the same song, I am putting up two different Junebug or is it June Bug songs to vote on.
Contenter #1 The B-52s. I was surprised to learn this American rock band started in 1976. They had a few hits Love Shack, Roam, Rock Lobster, Private Idaho, and Good Stuff. Honestly, I don’t remember much about this band and all of these hit songs aren’t jingling any bells…well, Love Shack and Rock Lobster maybe. Okay enough rambling, you know what to do! Here’s B-52s with Junebug!
Contender #2 Mac Powell. This guy didn’t sound familiar, but I really like his voice and I think y’all will, too. I did a little digging on him and learned that he founded the early 90s Christian rock band, Third Day. I feel confident I have heard of that group. Anyway, here’s Mac Powell with his June Bug song.
Polls close at noon (ET) on the 7th!
I hope you had fun listening. Now, it’s up to you to tell me in comments who you like and why (optional), then next week on the 8th I’ll drop the results in my comments.
At the top, the main menu you’ll find a dedicated BOTB page with a list of all participants. I can’t guarantee whose playing along, you’ll have to pop in on each one to see. That’s it for this time, I’m closing with another artist discovery of an instrumental June Bug song by Stanley Turrentine for your enjoyment only. Have a bandtastic day!
Mac Powell gets my vote 👍
Happy Monday, Cathy! It’s Mac Powell for me. Hugs!
Mac Powell gets my vote. Excellent.
Have a fabulous day and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥
CK, we like the first one, because it sounds funny and more danceable😺Guess we’re the only one who choose them🙈Double Pawkisses for a Happy Monday and Week ahead🐾😽💞
I like your theme, CAThy!
I wonder if Janie Junebug will show up here, and who she’ll vote for if she does.
Well, as for the B-52s… it’s their usual sound, which I have always had exactly negative-zero tolerance for. I’d probably rather listen to The Knack, and I can hardly believe I just wrote such a thing!
I’m voting for Mac Powell while giving the stink-eye to the B-52s.
Truth be told, though, I’d have eagerly voted instead for Stanley Turrentine… “If I Could”.
Bless & Be Blessed, my Friend!!

I like Mac Powell too!
Mac Powell for me, too. I like his sound.
What Stephen said! The B-52s don’t appeal to me at all; never have. So, it’s Mac Powell for me, but I would have voted for Stanley if he was in the running.
VOTE = MAC POWELL
I actually am a B-52s fan, but I am even more of a Mac Powell/Third Day fan; and he does not disappoint with this one. Fun! ~Ed.
Well, I’m going with the crowd and say Mac Powell. Have a nice day today.
Both are excellent, but I’m going with the local favorites, the B-52s.
I like the B52’s but this song was to repiticious. I am also giving this to Mac. Funny, when I was at our conference, a bonfire was created so we could make smores and sit by the fire but there were tons of Junebugs! They flew into my hair, buzzing and hitting g into my head, ears it was not pleasant. The majority left to go inside, but I did make a.smore. the fire was way too.hor so I could not melt the marshmallow, nut.it was still.good
WOW is all I can say! I had no idea B-52 would crash so badly in this showdown. If it weren’t for AngelsWhisper it would’ve been a blow-out. The band had some hits I liked, but new wave doesn’t suit my personality. So, like the majority I went with Mac Powell for all the same reasons. His voice is really nice.
I appreciate everyone who participated and as a reminder this how you voted.
Junebug by The B-52s earned two votes: AngelsWhisper and John
June Bug by Mac Powell won by a landslide receiving 10 votes: Clive, Eugi, Sandee, Stephen, Brian’sHome, MessyMimi, Debbie, Ed, Nicole, Birgit, & Me
June Bug is on Mac Powell’s debut country album, if you care to listen to it.
Internet traffic is slow now that it’s almost summer. Most of y’all have vacation plans to think about or other fun distractions, which a.okay by me. We all need time away from technology. I’ll be back at the first of July for another battle and if you’re around, then I hope you’ll play along.
Have a bandtastic day!
