farad came up with this handy list of things to consider for both what you ask for and what you offer:
• Form of Gift: A story? A vid? An image? (Note: image could be fanart, icons, wallpaper, etc. Please specify what you would like and/or what you would be willing to create.)
• Genre: slash, het or gen.
• Character(s) and/or pairing(s).
• 'Verse: Old West, ATF, etc.
• Prompt (for requests): Idea you have for the characters, if any.
• Not preferred: What
don’t you want to see/provide in the story or image?
Put what's most important to you first. Please list a first and second choice both for your request and your offer. Within those choices, share as many options as you are
comfortable and happy with, ideally in order of preference. The list above is a great starting point, but don't feel like you have to just fill out the form and can only put one answer for each item. Heck, if you’d prefer, you can just say what you like and what you don’t. The more you communicate, hopefully, the more fun and rewarding the exchange will be for everyone!
Note: the Santas will get to see everything that was requested. So those of you who are worried about whether you can get your muse to cooperate with a request, you will have options if the first choice just doesn't work!
If you have an unusual wish or unique creative endeavor to offer, consider it an extra. By all means, request the Mary/Charlotte modern-day vampire AU vid set to music by Death Cab for Cutie that you really want most of all, but provide two additional backup requests so the person providing your gift still has that flexibility. The same goes for offers. If you want to offer a fanmix or other non fic/image item, or really off-the-wall pairings, or what-have-you, that would be
awesome and you could very well end up totally making someone's holiday! But please also provide two options that are more standard. (Note: To preserve the anonymity factor, please do not request or offer items that involve a third-party creation, such as remixes or podfics.)
I'm also looking for emergency pinch-hitters. Sometimes life happens or the muse doesn't. If someone just plain can't get their gift done before the deadline, they need to let me know by
December 18. I'll pass the request on to a pinch-hitter, who would then have one week to make sure everyone still gets their Mag7 holiday wish. If you think you might be able to be one of these heroic individuals, let me know in your comment.
