Hi. My name is Sarah Williams out in realspace, but Dialecticdreamer here on Dreamwidth. I write mostly gentle fiction, focusing on fantasy, superhero stories that the mainstream comics ignore, and science fiction. The thing I notice about gentle fiction, especially, is that it can tackle difficult concepts without feeling like the reader has just waded through a sewer. I love the challenge of it.

I’ve been posting here for years, and put up a tip jar to help offset medical bills in 2015. My goal is to become self-employed with my writing, and 2019 seems to be the year for making that happen. I’m delighted to have so many regular readers, and hope that hosting two calls for story ideas (prompt calls) will help encourage everyone to join in the fun. Feedback is precious, and I try to respond in a timely fashion in return.

When I post in the Polychrome Heroics universe, which was created by ysabetwordsmith it’s with her permission. This is my opportunity to say thanks, again, for the privilege.

For those interested in a particular type of story, or a particular character, especially something I may not be representing at the moment, please feel free to PM me, or toss out the request on a prompt call. Magpie Monday falls on the second Monday of the month, and the Feathering the Nest prompt call is on the fourth Monday. They are focused differently, one with a theme chosen each month, and the other purely for the nonsexual intimacy (“fluff”) that is often only given cursory treatment in other media. Between them both, I hope there’s something to elicit reader participation every month.

A final, frustrating note. My laptop died and now, I have to use the tips from the prompt calls to purchase something refurbished and portable. That old machine worked hard, but it can’t be revived even with a fist-sized diamond and a cadre of dedicated clerics. I will update this as the situation unfolds, especially given the “no laptop equals no writing” problem. I found a way to work through neuropathy; I intend to work through this problem, too!
