elyusionDoes anyone know if there's a secret third cover by a Japanese group to complete the trifecta? And if they're all covering some overseas song that I haven't heard before but will stumble into a few months or years down the line (100000 such cases)?
*May 29th edit because I entirely forgot to mention: I did learn, however, that the opening sample is from You Don't Love Me (No No No) by Dawn Penn.

I felt suspicious that that too was a sample, so I looked into it. That Dawn Penn song's opening is actually sampling Wake the Town by U-Roy, so who knows which one those later songs were using as a reference.*
I've never seen the MVs for either of these songs until now... It's interesting seeing how the choreography differs from the one I made up in my head 📄✍🏾

Date: 2026-05-29 08:12 pm (UTC)I've actually never heard If You Seek Amy (but now I have!) but even before listening to it I thought the singing in that T-ARA song had a Spears-like quality to it.
And I was amazed at how much that Ace of Base song sounds like the songs in my post! Maybe that's just what cute pop music sounded like, but the similarities are Really strong. Thank you for commenting!!
