Once again I find myself writing a memorial for a beloved pet this year. I lost my cat Abigail very unexpectedly. I had her since she was a kitten and she was just a little over ten years old. She was the first animal that my husband and me got together. She is greatly missed by us both.

I was recently diagnosed with Hereditary Hemochromatosis. This means that my body absorbs too much iron. This can cause a host of problems like organ failure especially if it’s not caught early. I had never even heard of it before, but after reading about it found out it is not always easily diagnosed. I feel fortunate that was able to get the diagnosis at this point.

I knew the day was coming when I would have to say good-bye to my original hen Buster, but I was hoping I had more time. She was eight plus years old. I think she lived a good life. She literally changed my life in many ways. Against all my objections, my husband was insistent on naming our bantam fireball Buster.
