I’m an avid reader and watcher of TV (movies slightly less so). I also write, though not as much as I want to.

Genres I enjoy: action-adventure, comedy, crime & mystery, fantasy, historical fiction & costume dramas, sci-fi. I appreciate women and queer characters that are well-written and/or well-acted.

For my sanity I haven't paid much attention to Doctor Who fandom in recent years so I don't know what the general consensus of this season was, but I really liked it (apart from ( Read more... )). I thought season 1 was average with a few great episodes, but I enjoyed this season a lot more. Belinda seemed like such a normal, relatable character, without the tragic backstory that so many companions have. And Fifteen has grown on me (I wasn't used to sexy Doctor, I was used to awkward and reserved Doctor, but this season changed that).

I don't know what the future of the show is, but I'm still invested.

I seem to be in my Ancient Rome era, as the last seven things I wrote all have the same setting. No regrets.

Those About to Die is a very fun show (rather than a good show as such).

I've been putting off this post for a while because I thought after a month I'd have moved onto the next thing. Nope!

I think it will appeal to many of you in my circle. It has:

Ancient Rome setting
Lots of scheming
Lots of politics
Gambling
Horse racing
Gladiators
Fun, scary, and shippy character dynamics.

What was most surprising for me was that it gave me a new het OTP. I can't remember the last time I shipped something so hard - probably not since COVID. And yes, I've already written a couple ficlets, which I'll share in due course.

If you don't mind spoilers for the finale, here's a gifset of part of my favourite scene. This scene lives in my head rent-free and I've watched it like 10 times now.

Now waiting to see if it will be renewed for season two (unlike My Lady Jane, which was very unfairly cancelled). Help!

I've been very strict and only indicated the shows I'm absolutely sure of, and that I actively watched rather than just being in the room while someone else watched.
