Our Story

Genesius develops and produces independent film and television for international audiences working with both established and emerging talent.

Award-winning producer Debbie Gray founded Genesius Pictures in 2013 with film financier and Producer Julian Gleek. With offices in London, Norfolk and Sydney, Genesius specialises in international film and television production.

Genesius’ films include the 4 x BAFTA nominated GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE starring Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack; A CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE with Freida Pinto and Iwan Rheon; MRS LOWRY & SON starring Vanessa Redgrave and Timothy Spall; THE MORE YOU IGNORE ME with Sheridan Smith; STARFISH with Joanne Frogatt and Tim Riley; and the BAFTA nominated NORTHERN SOUL starring Josh Whitehouse and Steve Coogan.

Genesius most recent films are, THE RADLEYS, an adaptation of Matt Haig’s best-selling novel, directed by Euros Lyn, starring Damian Lewis and Kelly Macdonald as well as Irish romance FOUR LETTERS OF LOVE written by Niall Williams adapted from his own novel, which was released in summer 2025 starring Pierce Brosnan, Helena Bonham Carter and Gabriel Byrne.

A who’s who at Genesius Pictures

JULIAN GLEEK

Chairman

Julian brings a wealth of business knowledge to the team, with a very successful background in property. He has been the Finance Director, and then Managing Director, of the Burford Group of Companies for over 25 years.

Julian was also executive producer of the feature film Effie Gray starring Dakota Fanning, Emma Thompson and Robbie Coltrane, the BAFTA nominated and NME Best Film Award winning Northern Soul, and is the Executive Producer across all Genesius projects.

Julian’s commercial experience is a valuable asset to the team and ensures a consistent, analytical approach to deals and oversees the investment of our funds.

CAITLIN ALBERY BEAVAN

Associate Producer

On graduating from the University of Manchester in Theatre and Film with a BA Hons 2:1, 2009, Caitlin set up her own theatre production company called Moya Productions, which focused on new writing for the stage.

Over the last 11 years with Moya Caitlin has worked across 47 productions, including 9 World Premieres in a variety of different locations, from disused spaces to the West End, with luminary actors and directors including: Dame Harriet Walter, George MacKay, Jade Anouka, Simon Callow, Stephen Merchant, Ed Harris, Pearl Mackie, Alex Lawther, Imogen Stubbs, Philip Ridley, Matthew Dunster, Ian Talbot and Joe Lycett.

After producing the World Premiere of Mrs Lowy & Son the stage show at the Trafalgar Studios in 2013, Caitlin then Co-Produced the feature film adaptation in 2019 with Genesius Pictures, starring Vanessa Redgrave and Timothy Spall which was nominated for Best Film at the Edinburgh Film Festival and is currently streaming on major network platforms.

In 2022, Caitlin made the move into film permanently and started as a full-time Associate Producer at Genesius Pictures.

KIERAN CLAYTON

Development Executive

After graduating from Cambridge University, Kieran worked as part of the acquisitions team at New Line Cinema for nearly three years. He later moved into production as a development executive at Focus Features where he worked on films including The Eagle, Hanna, Jane Eyre, One Day, Hyde Park on Hudson, Black Sea and Suffragette.

DEBBIE GRAY

Managing Director / Producer

Debbie is a BAFTA & BIFA nominated Producer and Executive Producer with over 30 years’ experience in Film, Television and Music. Debbie has produced for Genesius Pictures, BAFTA & Golden Globe nominated Good Luck to You, Leo Grande starring Emma Thompson, BAFTA nominated and award-winning film Northern Soul, The More You Ignore Me; by Jo Brand, Mrs Lowry & Son starring Timothy Spall and Vanessa Redgrave and A Christmas Number One starring Freida Pinto as well as up-and-coming feature films Four Letters of Love, starring Pierce Brosnan, Helena Bonham Carter and Gabriel Byrne as well as The Radleys with Damian Lewis and Kelly Macdonald.

Prior to her Film productions, Debbie was an Executive Producer at ITV studios for several years where she developed and produced drama and observational documentaries, including Martina Cole’s Girls Gangs in LA and London and Animal Cops for Discovery. She was an executive producer of Ibiza Rocks for Channel 4 and has produced over 30 hours of drama and light entertainment for the BBC. In 2001, she worked with Buffalo Pictures, as a producer whilst the company was developing the first Doc Martin series.

Debbie is also a Trustee of the Norwich Film Festival and a mentor for Creative East.

SAM CORNISH

Associate Producer

Sam graduated in 2014 with an Honours Degree in Film Production from the Cambridge School of Art. Prior to joining Genesius, Sam freelanced within the industry for two years working mainly in production on TV, film & commercials.

In his seven years with Genesius Sam has worked alongside Producer Debbie Gray as both Production Executive on feature films The More You Ignore Me and Mrs Lowry & Son as well as, in recent years, Associate Producer on Sky Original film A Christmas Number One and four time BAFTA nominated Good Luck to You, Leo Grande starring Emma Thompson and up-and-coming feature films Four Letters of Love and The Radleys.

DIANA HOWIE

Consulting Producer, Television

An award-winning TV Producer and Executive Producer with decades of experience in creating and making top class television content for broadcast networks and digital platforms.

As well as a Producer she is a former Commissioning Editor for the BBC-owned UKTV Digital Channels where she commissioned drama and entertainment content for UKTV Gold and UKTV Dave. Diana was also a Commissioning Editor for commercial network ITV, where she commissioned hundreds of hours of both scripted and unscripted content for the ITV network and for the ITV digital channels. Since 2014, Diana has been based in both London and LA. She has a format development company, `Fandom Fiction LLC’ and a scripted business `Bees & Honey Films LLC’’. She has development and production partnerships with BBC Studios, Genesius Pictures, Banijay, Mainstreet Films and US-based, Industry Entertainment.
