Want to be contributor of hailstone ‘ICEBOX’.
Hello, everyone!!
I thought I’d enrolled but obviously I didn’t succeed… is there a way of getting the guidelines?”
Dear Haiku friends !
I want so much to become a member of your Haiku circle, if you allowe me?
Domo arrigato!
Haiku fore you from Me:
Frozen words melting
in the hand
of a lonely poet
Linden blossom pale green
admired,
was I the only one
our hands open
to welcome you aboard now
in a warm embrace
Frozen words melting
in the hand
of a lonely poet
Is this not lovely for its poignancy?
After all, this is a lonely profession—writing.
You write your thoughts and wonder if, by chance, you make some sort of connection out there, somewhere.
autumn morning…
last rays of sunshine
mingling with scarlet leaves
I would be honored to be a member of the Circle. Here is a poem, a call back to your poem by ED, inspired by her Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul…
Hope
Its Feathers – ruffle –
perched among – the white Blossoms –
of my Soul – strange Bird.
I hope you take away some lpeasure from my haiku, here, and in Submissions.
Didn’t remember ED’s poem. Nice find. So bloody. More so because it comes from the Lady In White.
Here are my reactions to bloody autumns, informed by the modern situation.
Improvisations
Leaves twist in mid-air
fall without sound: soldiers
aftter IED’s.
Fall Foliage
Fall explodes – crimson
colors, flesh tones, gray gristle –
skin: burnt sienna.
Detritus Of Autumn
Tree parts, limbs and trunks,
litter earth: guardsmen under
their canvas HumVees.
For everyone’s reference:
We are truly grateful to the poets here (and to those appearing in the comments section of the Submissions page) who share their haiku with us or sometimes express their wish to ‘become a member’. The best of these poems will occasionally feature in the ‘from the Icebox inbox’ series of postings. The Hailstone Haiku Circle, whose site this is, does not actually have a ‘membership’ per se: it is an extended group of poet-friends, who collaborate on this site, on real events and on paper publications. Some of these poets have accepted an invitation to become an Icebox contributor – hopefully, a regular one! In order to control quality, please understand that we intend to extend the list of individuals who are given the ability to post to this site rather slowly and cautiously, through invitation only, and needless to say only if the editors feel a poet’s work is complementary to the spirit and an asset to the site. The eds. do not intend to reply individually to every request for ‘contributorship’. In the meantime, feel free to submit one or two haiku at our ‘inbox’ through the comments box at Submissions, rather than here at Contributors. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Two questions. How does one go about posting Haipho here, and how does one qualify to become a contributor?
David
I have sent you an email by way of an answer.
Thank you.
Received and read.
David
I’m flummoxed as to how I submit as a contributor. Sorry. My contribution follows:
Spending a fortnight in the university city of Cambridge, nothing much has changed in a quarter of a century.
autumn comes early this year
among the crisped leaves
polished conkers
school’s out!
boys’ coat pockets
bulging
bus stop
under the horse chestnut tree
now and then a thwack
tail whisking
an urban squirrel
finds a chestnut
city park
her dog in pursuit—
breaths on hold
sodden remains
of a roadside casualty
young pigeon
discarded bun
by the old man’s duvet
starlings squabbling
woodpecker door knocker
away from traffic
the real thing
stock-still heron
ever watchful by the Cam
so easy to miss
young swans
how clean they keep
their dusk-grey feathers
Thanks for this nice collection of haiku, Ingrid. I shall post a selection for you this time (probably early next week), but in future, just log into WordPress through Meta on right (if not automatically signed in) and go to the dashboard at Icebox (prob. through the tab ‘My Site’ at top left). Choose Posts – All posts – click on arrow beside Add Post and choose Classic Editor- type or paste in what you wish – save as draft and email me to look at it. I can publish it later when the time is ripe. If you click Publish instead of Save Draft, then it will be published to the top page in an instant. You can always go back to the dashboard to edit and update, though. Hope this sorts things out in your mind. If not email?
Thank you, Tito!
Now posted in slightly reduced form on your behalf.
A shorter version of my haiku sequence, one theme leading on to another. But that’s fine; it still gives something of my impressions of this beautiful city, so, thank you, Tito, for spending time on my submission.
