Hi! My name is Elena. I’m from Ukraine, married to a Moroccan guy and our baby is American 🙂 If you are looking for a mix of international, you are in the right spot! This little blog is my place to share our travels, my attempts at cooking, some DIY, Feng-Shui, my favorite music and some.
I was born’n’raised in Odessa, a 220-year-old pearl on the Black Sea. When I was little, I lived in Singapore with my grandparents. That is where my life-long affair with the English language began 🙂 After meeting my husband, I fell deeply in love with Morocco: their culture, heritage and cuisine! About 8 years ago we moved to the United States. It was a Relocation of a Lifetime, trust me. Recently, we did it again, moving from Las Vegas to Seattle. Now I am inviting you to share the experience and – maybe, who knows? – you will contract a sparkle of inspiration to transform your own life!
Dear Ms Elena,
Hello from Singapore! Thank you so much for the wonderful recount of your childhood home — Beverly Mai. I am a student here in Singapore and was searching high and low for any recollections of the said for a research project, and came across yours along the way. It is wonderful, thank you for the beautiful narrative!
I wish you well always!
Warmest Regards,
Adib
congratulations for your writing!
have a nice day,
best regards from Italy
Thank you, Antonio, sweet of you to stop by!
Great blog! So glad I stumbled onto it (:
My pleasure 🙂 enjoy!

Hi Sally, i actually emailed my post to you on Dec 31. I will resend it again now – pls reply to it when you get my email.
Hi Elena I’ve come across your blog via “Jo’s Monday Walks” and have just been reading about your walk round Odessa. I love learning about new places and did not know a lot about Odessa before. Your story sounds so interesting! I’m relatively new to the blogging world (I blog about my travels and adopted home in Australia as Le Chic En Rose) and one aspect I’m really enjoying is all the people one “meets”! I’m looking forward to reading more of your posts kind regards Rosemary 🙂
Rosemary, what a beautiful name! Pleasure to meet you and thank you for following my blog! I agree, making friends who are like minded is a very special aspect of blogging. I will check your blog out, too. Here’s to new friends!
Thanks Elena – it’s quite an old fashioned English name am glad you like it! I didn’t like it when I was younger but I do now 🙂 I love meeting new people and look forward to welcoming you to my blog too and I will be following your posts! I love people’s stories and perspectives on their homelands or travels it’s so interesting. Likewise here’s to new friends and enjoy your weekend 🙂
Hello Elena,
I stumbled across your blog through Sue, over at Travel Tales of Life. Lovely to meet you, I look forward to reading more of your blog:)
Hi Lynn, isn’t blogosphere a wonderful place to meet people?! Pleasure meeting you, too! Looking forward to sharing a nice adventure, especially in Morocco 😉
It is indeed! Connecting with people & sharing experiences of all kinds has been something I hadn’t really planned on when I first started writing over a year ago. I couldn’t have imagined the wonderful & interesting people I would meet along this journey in the land of blogging!
Well, since you also like music I would be very happy if you would listen to my music, for example my single Made of things.
The single Made of things was inspired by sustainability since materialistic things are so often presented in social media as the definition of who we are.
Here’s the link to Made of things at Soundcloud:
Let me know what you think!
Elena, what a fascinating life journey you have had. And adventure, too! 🙂 I’m really enjoying your posts and look forward to reading more. All the best, Terri
Ah, thank you Terri! Compared to you guys I’ve only just began my journey : ) Really appreciate your follow!

You’re on my mind a great deal, during these awful days …
Thank you, my dear ! It’s getting worse…
“Hi M.R. Stringer,
Congratulations! A project you funded, Expansion Efforts for Moroccan Women’s Center Working to Employ & Empower!, has successfully closed. The project leader has been given your name, email address, and choice of goods.”
I want them to know that I don’t expect anything, please, Jouena? – it would sort of detract from the small gift, you know?
Oh, i didn’t see that coming, either. Agree with you! I guess we could email Nora, the girl who started the nonprofit, to ask her not to take any action in that regards ? Her email is amalnonprofit@gmail.com. Her blog is http://www.moroccoma.wordpress.com. What do you say?
I fill doo eet!
Tenks, dullink!
🙂
I still wander why would they want to spend money they so need on thank you gifts… sweet jesture, though. Do you ever sleep?? I have to put my geography together – what is the time difference between our places?
hang on and I’ll tell ya …
5.20pm Saturday here: 10.20pm Friday there
Need you to let me know if you received any kind of advice re my latest post, please, Jouena … Meaning, did the system automatically advise you?
M.R., do you mean your post on Sunshine Awards? did not recieve anything unusual. Anything at all, rather: ) It simply appeared in my feed of blogs I follow. Or am i getting you wrong?
No, that’s what I meant. I’m unfamiliar with this system of awards, and I didn’t know if a pingback would appear, or what. You may hate me, now, for having dobbed you in.
😀
Oh, it would take you so much more to make me hate you! You have not even made your first baby step in the direction ; )
M.R., last time I was called “German” was years ago, when my boss, a Frenchman, disapproved of my hairstyle and proclaimed I looked like a German teenager 🙂 It sounds much more pleasing in your words! Appreciate the compliment!
Well, I’ll be! No sooner had I voiced a wish than you’d turned it into reality! [grin]
So tell me, Elena; why did you post via your Blogger a/c onto a WordPress post? DON’T ANSWER THAT – it doesn’t matter! I’m delighted to know you’re all over the place. Love the icon shot: you look rather …German. In other words, intelligent and amused. 🙂
