It kind of feels like my mind did a reset last night as I'm kind of blanking on what I did in 2024.
2024
I made 13 posts to
love_sacrificed this year. One of those post is from when I split up my fic masterlist into three parts instead of the two it had previously had. Which means that I posted 12 creative things this year. The months with the most posts were July and December. In July I posted some screencaps, a fic and reworked that master list. In December I attempted to do an advent calendar during which I intended to post something every day up to Christmas which got derailed kind of quickly. In part, because I didn't get as much done in preparation during November as I had hoped and in part because December is generally a very busy months and featured worked stressing me out and my grandfather dying after years of declining health.
I posted six fics, four posts of screencaps, two posts of icons and one icon texture set.
Some statistics to the fics I posted:
• all were for 9-1-1 Lone Star
• combined word count of 13198 words
• average word count of 2200 words
• highest word count was 6448 words
• lowest word count was 634 words
One of the stories was written as part of a challenge I had been contemplating joining in for a while, which I really liked. My main focus in 2024 had been to finish up mostly written stories and post them and I think all of the stories I posted do fit that bill. I did struggle with writing though. There's a growing resentment to the canon of 9-1-1 Lone Star - in part because I hate some of their decisions and in part because I struggled merging my head canon with new canon. Even if I'm all for that new canon.
When it comes to reading, I kind of jumped back into the Harry Potter fandom and I'm toying with some ideas for stories. I started writing some, but am on the fence if I really want to jump back into the Harry Potter fandom as an author. My main problem on that front is probably world building. I want to go big or go home with the stories and I'm not sure if I'm able to keep it all straight and see it to the end considering the average length of the stories I've posted in recent years. I'll keep thinking about it this year. I'm itching to re-read the books though just to refresh my memory.
2025
What do I hope for this year? Well, I hope that I keep on posting fanworks - fics, icons and graphic resources. I recently found some general tips and tricks I had started for icon making that I want to polish up and post. I want to post more about my writing process. I also want to further refine my icon making style and make it more of a habit in comparison to my "old" one.
I've tried setting myself monthly goals last year and I think they kind of worked. I did allow myself to change them up depending on what I found more inspiring and that certainly took some stress out of it. So, I'm going to do that again this year. Hopefully, I'll post something creative every month this year. I'm also hoping that I'm able to post more longer stories and less that don't even make 1000 words.
Let's see what the year brings.

Date: 5 January 2025 04:10 pm (UTC)I'm hoping to revive my love a bit by rewatching the first two seasons and focusing on that time span with a couple of extra bits of information from later seasons thrown in. Amidst still reading all the spoilers for the current season. I know I have plenty of stories started that are set in that time frame.
