My artistic life began with crayons, colored pencils, and paints. At the impressionable age of nine, I was introduced to sewing on a Singer Treadle Machine. An introduction to quilt-making in 1990 changed my life! I’ve been in love ever since.
While my formal education is in Architecture, Engineering, and Interior Design, in 1996, I began teaching my passion of hand appliqué and traditional quilt making. Over the years, my repertoire has expanded to include: hand and domestic machine quilting, appliqué, piecing, and embroidery. As a fiber artist, quilt-maker, and instructor; I have taught locally as well as several cities across the nation. I especially love to teach Electric Quilt (EQ) software technology.
In additional to teaching at retreats, guilds, and shows, I have won numerous awards in competitions. A few of my notable achievements include: The Charles County Fair (MD) and The Sotterly Plantation Quilt show (MD). My quilt titled “Winter’s Romance” has been selected to exhibit in The National Quilting Association’s 40th Annual Quilt show in Columbus, OH, June 2009.
I am a founding member of the Uhuru Quilters Guild, Maryland and a member of the Daughters of Dorcas, Washington, DC. She resides in Upper Marlboro, Maryland and has been married to David Morris for 37 years. We have two married daughters and two grandsons.

It was wonderful to see you at Uhuru Quilters Guild, April 2017. From the first class I took from you, over 14 years ago, I have been hooked on applique. I haven’t had much time, but now that I am retiring soon, I plan to pick up and turn the needle. I will be specializing in Dimensional Applique Hand and Machine Embroidery and my favorite – Sashiko. I am looking forward to seeing and hopeful being at one of your class/retreats. Thank you for sharing your skills.
