Well, it has certainly been a while! I get so busy that I forget about this blog.
Sometimes I get depressed, too, and just don’t feel like doing anything. If I make myself go for a walk I usually feel better but it’s very hard to do sometimes.
We’ve had some beautiful weather lately. I’ve been getting things done in the yard. The greenhouse is put together and just needs staking. I hope we can get that done soon as my seedlings really need a new home before going into the garden!

Friday

I got a lot done this week.
On Tuesday I cleaned the house. Not much fun in that but it needed to be done!
I had Isaac over Tuesday night and thru Wednesday. We played Play Doh, danced and went outside during a dry spell-it was a rainy day. He helped me put the house numbers on the house.
Yesterday I cut down more of the laurel hedges. They are about half done now. I also tasked up the debris that was under then LOTS of already composted leaves for the garden!
I started building my raised rows with them.

Monday Morning

I had a fairly decent weekend. Patrick took Bud and me to lunch for our birthdays-mine is the 8th and his is the 10th.
Stars we stopped at the Restore and I bought some flower seeds and paint for the bathroom. The paint is a pale teal-like color. It was left over from someone’s project so it was cheap and pretty! I got almost a full gallon for $12.
The we stopped at the casino-I HATE the casino but Bud wanted to go and since he was driving…
Once at home we watched Mockingjay, Part 1.
On Sunday I went to church then we went to Ave Hardware. Bought a take and shovel and also some roofing patch for our tiny leak over the mudroom.
Patrick got the dead moss off of the front garage roof and sprayed the rest again.
I got the new house numbers painted and sealed and just need another quick coat of the sealer on the back and then I can put them on the house.
I’m going to get the crap cleared from my garden area today and possibly cut down more of this darned hedges! One good thing, though-there’s lots of already composted leaves hidden under the hedges so I won’t need to buy any while I wait for my compost to ‘cook’.

Gardening Prep

I got outside and started feeling better so I moved the logs that were left when the old shed was taken down. Patrick helped with the large ones when he got home from work.
We ended up cutting the two longest ones because they wouldn’t fit through the entrance of the wood shed.
The two square beams were left in the garden area to outline it.
Tomorrow I’ll start cleaning out the area. There’s a lot of trash and weeds there.
I hope to cut down some more of the laurel bushes, too.

Sunday

I’m still not feeling well. Some kind of a cold, I guess. I just have no energy right now.
I was still going to get the last of the grocery shopping done but I guess it’ll have to wait till Patrick gets back.
Time for a hot cup of tea.

Saturday

Well, not much got accomplished today. We did get some produce at Jays and picked up a few things at the Grocery Outlet and Dollar Tree but, other than that, nothing got done.
I was hoping Patrick would help me in the yard a bit but he spent too much time watching TV this morning. I told him that the reason I only put on music when I have things that need doing is because if I turn on the TV I just start watching it. I don’t think it has sunk in yet. If he wants his house to be finished he really needs to get off his butt and help me! I’m just not as young as I used to be!

About me

It has occurred to me that I never properly introduced myself!
My name is Kathy and I week be 59 in March. I have 3 adult children-a soon and 2 daughters. Mary lives in Lacey with her husband, Matt, and their 4-year-old son, Isaac.
Jenny is in the Phoenix, AZ area. Hopefully she’s working and paying her bills. I wish she’d come home but she is determined to start there fire done train. I seldom hear from her so I just pray for her-a LOT!
I am living with my adult son in a house he just bought a few months ago. It’s a fixer-upper and the contractor’s part of the reno is almost finished.
We get to paint the inside of the house and also work on the badly neglected yard.
The house is on half an acre and I am going to have a small vegetable garden this year. I also need to put together my greenhouse for my seedlings when they are ready.
The back garage will eventually have a workshop for my wire jewelry crafting. Hopefully, that will hasten soon and I’ll have enough items tho sell at some craft fairs this year.
I also crochet and loom knit and am working on some items in those crafts.

Besides the Strawberries

Today I also cleaned my oven-which is perky why I tried drying the strawberries in my convection oven and dragged all the cut-down hedges to the burn pile out back of the property. We still have about 2/3s of the hedges to come down. They are severely overgrown. The previous owners never trimmed them at all, it looks like.
We thought about just cutting then back but they are SO overgrown that it will take a few years before they would green up again so we decided to replace them.
