Progress

Are you tired of this yet? I have this much sewn together.

Image

I decided to eliminate the more pastel blocks.

Image

Then I went hunting and found some more orphan blocks that may work.

Image

That yellow one got eliminated pretty quickly.

Image

So I’m still puzzling this out.

Playing with Blocks

I’m having a hard time deciding how to lay these out.

Image

Maybe I need to figure out the big blocks first and then fill in.

Anyway, progress is slow. Have a good day

Disassembly

I’ve been casting about for the next project to focus on and came across this pile of vintage blocks again.

Image

This is the biggest piece and well pieced.

Image

However, not all bits are well done.

Image

Hence the disassembly.

A New Old Top

A few weeks ago, I found this quilt top on Facebook marketplace.

Image

I had no business buying it, but I did anyway. As you can see, it’s pretty rough. But so much work went into this.

Image
Image

The intricacy of the blocks is amazing. All hand done too.

Image

I’m not sure when I will get around to this, but I had to rescue it.

My Redeemer

Image

Thank you all for your kind comments and mostly, for your prayers. I feel like I’m still trying to find my footing. But I’m holding on to Jesus, and I know He’s holding onto me.

This and That

Mr. Wonderful and I are both home from our mothers’ memorials. He went to Kansas and I went to Wisconsin. We are definitely still in recovery mode.

Anyone else remember this?

Image

Another puzzle, sadly missing several pieces.

Image

Yep.

This was a great read.

Finish It Up Friday ~ MCM Diamonds

It’s done, and the wedding isn’t until September.

Image

I did know that I would see the happy couple while in Wisconsin for my mom’s memorial though, so I decided to finish it early.

Image

It’s a simple quilt, but it’s huge.

Image

I bound it by machine as I knew my hands couldn’t take all that hand stitching.

Image

I can’t get a full photo, but this is four and a half out of seven rows.

Throwback Thursday

I thought I’d share this again, since it was the inspiration for the quilt I’ll be sharing tomorrow. Enjoy.

Finish It up Friday ~ Modern Diamonds!

Posted on July 8, 2016 by katyquilts

Red/black/white week is coming to an end!  This certainly was a fast finish! Sometimes,  that is just what you need for a little motivational boost.

Image

All the top fabrics came from my stash, but I did purchase the backing since I couldn’t find anything at home that I liked.

Image
Image

I used Candy Apple Red Glide thread in both the top and the bobbin.

The above pictures were  taken before washing. The rest are after.

It crinkled up nicely! I love the texture from the quilting.

I hope the happy couple likes it!

Beautiful Chaos

I feel a sense of connection with the maker of this vintage top. When nothing seems to fit and make sense, stitch anyway.
