Manual Meridian Therapy is a deeply restorative experience, but your safety is our priority. While this therapy is beneficial for most, certain health conditions, known as contraindications, may require you to postpone your visit or consult a physician first.
When to Avoid Manual Meridian Therapy
To ensure a safe experience, we cannot perform meridian therapy if you are currently experiencing:
Blood Clots or DVT
Because meridian therapy naturally boosts circulation, it is unsafe for those with a history of blood clots.
Active Foot Conditions
This includes contagious infections such as athlete’s foot and nail fungus, as well as physical injuries such as recent fractures, severe sprains, and unhealed wounds.
Gout Flare-ups
Treatment is avoided during an active flare-up to prevent pain and further inflammation.
When to Consult Your Doctor
If any of the following apply, please obtain medical clearance before booking your session:
Pregnancy
We generally recommend waiting until after your first trimester. Our therapist will then use specialized techniques to ensure a safe, relaxing experience.
Heart Conditions
This includes chronic heart failure or unstable blood pressure that may be sensitive to changes in circulation.
Active Cancer Treatment
If you are currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation, we require a note from your oncologist to ensure the session is tailored to your needs.
Bleeding Disorders
Those who bruise easily or have low platelet counts should seek medical advice regarding the use of manual pressure.
If you have a fever, a contagious illness, or unexplained swelling in your feet or ankles, we kindly ask that you reschedule your appointment for a time when you are feeling your best.
