Le Marché aux Puces de Paris Saint-Ouen: A Treasure Trove of History and Antiques

Nestled just north of the bustling heart of Paris, not far away from Montmartre lies one of the world's most famous flea markets: Le Marché aux Puces de Paris Saint-Ouen. Known for its vast array of antiques, vintage finds, and unique treasures, this sprawling market is more than just a shopping destination; it is a vibrant tapestry woven from history, creativity, and the indomitable spirit of Parisian culture.

Historical Background

The origins of Le Marché aux Puces can be traced back to the late 19th century. The market started around 1885 when ragpickers and second-hand dealers set up stalls to sell their wares in the area that was then considered the outskirts of Paris. Its name, "Marché aux Puces," translates to "flea market" in English, a term believed to have emerged due to the presence of well-worn items and perhaps even the occasional flea.

French Cancan

The positive thing with living in Montmartre and Paris, is that you always have so close to all artistic forms. And who doesn´t love the spirit of old fashion French Cancan (or can-can)

I met up with Parisian Cancan dancer Marlène Lecoeur for a photo shoot in Montmartre ♥

I know, it´s been ages ago I wrote something on my blog! Don´t even know if someone still visits here lol :-)

I hope all of you are fine, during these strange and new times we are living.. For me it has change a lot, as a photographer I more or less live on the tourist business in Paris, and due to Covid-19 I lost all my clients this year :-( It´s tough to say the least..

So during confinement/lockdown in France that lasted for 2 months, I started to build /create my new webshop with my photography prints, and I would be more than happy if you visit! All photos by me of course

printed in Paris and framed by you. And I deliver world wide of course :-)

Snow in Montmartre ♥

Even if I´m from Sweden and pretty used to snow, after 6 years in Paris this starts to feel exotic.

It rarely snows in Paris, maybe once a year and if it does, it only stays for a few hours. So if and when it does, as a photographer, you just HAVE to photo shoot it ♥ :-)

Snow or rain, they always leave the tables outside, every day of the year ;-)

At Place du Tertre even the artists takes a break, no point to paint in the snow..

Feels like Christmas all over again ;-)
