Bio:

Maria Haskins is a Swedish-Canadian writer and reviewer of speculative fiction. She is a non-fiction editor at Ruadán Books, and a fiction editor at Many Worlds. Maria reviews short fiction for Locus Magazine. Her essays and reviews are also available to read at Pyschopomp, Strange Horizons, and Maria’s Reading.

Maria was born and grew up in Sweden, and debuted as a writer there. Currently, she’s located just outside Vancouver with two kids, a husband, a snake, several noisy birds, and a very large black dog. Her work is available in the short story collections Wolves & Girls (2023, Brain Jar Press) and Six Dreams About the Train (2021, Trepidatio Publishing). She is an Aurora Awards nominee and an Ignyte Awards nominee. In 2025, Maria was the very grateful recipient of a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts.

Maria’s work has appeared in several publications and anthologies, including Best Horror of the Year, Nightmare, Lightspeed, The Deadlands, Black Static, Fireside, Shimmer, Cast of Wonders, Mythic Delirium, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Flash Fiction Online, and elsewhere.
