Fandoms pequenos são uma dádiva, mas também uma sina. O pior é como definir um fandom pequeno em um mundo com tantos fandoms?

That's true that there's no good method. I know Yuletide does it based on how many fanworks are at AO3 for it (so a fandom can be small for 2 years and then no longer qualify, for example). And while a fandom may be too small in one place to get much activity, it could be that in other places it is consistently active.

Certainly a bunch of fandoms would no longer be small, if all their fans could be congregated in the same place.

Sim uma grandíssima verdade. Sei que em alguns sites de fics como o Nyah! e Spirit alguns fandoms são mais ativos do que no AO3, assim como nn Tumblr e Twitter. Eu mesma vi isso acontecer. Fora que agora está na moda se organizar em locais descentralizados como Discord e até Telegram. Com isso os fandoms parecem minúsculos se usarmos o AO3 como média, mas às vezes não o são. É sofrível demais esse tipo de coisa. Eu mesma já olhei um fandom que só tinha uma fic e outros nem tem.

Yes, Discord is huge but also difficult to discover. It's also really difficult to count how much activity is going on because of its impermanence (no searching via kudos, for example).

Sim. Ambientes assim estão em alta com alguns fãs e é estranho como não se tem informação nenhuma sobre eles. Eu ouvi dizer sobre um grupo no Discord que lê livros e fics, falam bem deles, mas não fazem nenhum comentário nos sites próprios onde as obras estão o que é muito estranho pra mim.

Yes, that seems unfortunate. Although I do get it if you have to have an account to comment. These days so many AO3 works have anonymous commenting disabled (for good reason) that it's a hurdle to do it.

That said, a lot of AO3 works are now locked to site users alone, so I'd bet many of those people do have accounts, so it's particularly unfortunate that they don't do so.

Eu mesma tenho minhas obras restritas a usuários por culpa das IA que vivem raspando o site e eu tenho que copiem algo meu. Não sou a melhor escritora do mundo mas tenho o direito de não ser plagiada né, seja por pessoa ou por máquina. Mas infelizmente eu leio e atualmente quase não faço comentários, uso muito mais o espaço do meu rec do bookmarks para isso
