So! I have not posted in...forever. Life has been busy and not busy at the same time. I dunno. So I will bullet point you with the important things.

- I am going to Europe in October! Rome, Florence, Venice, Munich, and Amsterdam. For 3 weeks! With my besties! I will probably be exhausted by Venice, but that's OK! I will chillax when I get home? LOL.

So if you've been to any of these places recently, or best yet, you live in any of these places, tell me about things I cannot miss! And how to avoid line-ups! And anything else I need to know! It would be very helpful and appreciated!

- My mom turned 50 in June, and we threw her a fairly swank surprise 50th. She was surprised! We'd been planning since November of last year, so by the time March/April rolled around, I was sick of cloth samples and I was even sick of pastries. Like, shit man. I love baked goods.

I have pictures, but I'm lazy. Sorry. Maybe later. Also, people are trying to hook me up with my dad's work buddy? Super fucking awkward is what that is. My dad gets this weird pinching in his face when people bring it up. That's kind of awesome.

- Teen Wolf! OK, so it started as a 'so bad it's good' situation. It's now just really fucking good. Seriously. I spend the episodes caught between laughing my ass off, sobbing hysterically, and clawing my face off. It's really a miracle. If you're not watching, give it a go. Start around episode 4 of S1 and then watch all of S2. Or just skip S1, but really don't. Whatever.

Also, Dylan O'Brien can fuck off and die. I don't know who told him he could exist, but it's not fair. Half the time, it's just dirty thoughts, the rest of the time, I want to tuck him in and bake him cookies.

- OK so I thought I had more to say but I don't.

I will be abusing the capslock. You've been warned.

OH MY GOD YOU GUYS IT WAS AMAZING. IT WAS EVERYTHING I HOPED IT WOULD BE AND MORE.

I had to sit on my hands for half the movie so that I wouldn't flail. And I was so good about not squeaking, I'm so proud of myself y'all. Didn't stop me from exclaiming 'Hulk is my favourite' out loud 3 times.

YOU GUYS HULK IS MY FAVOURITE. ALSO Also, Bruce/Tony SCIENCEBROS FOREVER.

Also, Steve/Tony snark. I LOVE IT. ALL THE SNARK FOREVER AND EVER. They're not superhusbands yet, but I can be patient. Get on it, Whedon.

Also. ALSO. SUCK IT WHEDON. YOU KNOW WHAT THAT'S FOR.

JEREMY RENNER GUN SHOW. HHGNNNHGK.

Oh, Loki. WHY WON'T YOU JUST LET THOR LOVE YOU? YOU AREN'T BEING STUBBORN AT ALL.

I WILL SEE IT AGAIN. MAYBE AGAIN AFTER THAT. IDK. Multiple viewings won't make me more coherent man. It just might make this worse.

Spent the weekend at The Hilton, being kept up by drunken teenagers. I think the concierge guy put us on the party floor. It might have been all the booze I was hanging onto while checking in. For future reference, is there anywhere in the downtown core open late for food? Like past 3am? We had to walk to McD's 10 mins away to quench our munchies. Not cool.

So. Apparently, I'm reading Teen Wolf fanfic. I'm also waiting for the rest of S1 to finish downloading. I think I'm on episode 6? It's a terrible show. But. It's so good.

I don't even know.

Just. I want to tuck Stiles into my pocket, take him home and bake him things. And then push him at Derek so they can make out. Or something.

*moans*

This is all tumblr's fault. You see a few gifs of some hot guy doing shirtless pullups, and all of a sudden, you're hooked. Well played, MTV. Well played.
mirareeves: (Default)
So. Mass Effect 3. I stayed pretty much spoiler free (that's amazing for me) but I'd heard some rumblings, nothing specific, just a lot of WTFs scattered about.

This won't make a great deal of sense. It never does though, right? Heh.

Spoilers )

And now BioWare is gonna fix the ending via DLC? Or at least, give us some kind of closure? I didn't care either way before, but if I gotta pay extra for this, I'ma be so upset.

Er. Hi.
mirareeves: (Default)
The Black Keys tonight YAY. I get to test out my new digital camera.

My mom keeps telling me I look slutty. I'm in a black pencil skirt, blue sweater and long black cardigan. *shrug* At least I shaved my legs today...

Mass Effect 3 has taken over my life. I'm about halfway through and I have no idea what's going on, but that's what multiple playthroughs are for I guess.

Spoilers )

Yah.
mirareeves: (Superhusbands)
Mass Effect 3 comes out next week. I'M SO EXCITED. I've missed you, Shepard. I have cleared my schedule for that week. Heh.

Does anyone remember posting a chocolate chip cream cheese brownie recipe? Or something close to it? I can't find it in any of my recipe boxes and well, delicious died so that's a no go.

So. The Avengers trailer just happened and it blew my mind. All of that amazingness needs to be up in my eyeballs yesterday. Is it weird that I get turned on when they give us shots of Tony putting on and taking off the armor? That shit is sexy. Ugh. Is it May yet? Why isn't it May yet?

Also, I need new friends because they're refusing to see this with me opening day. Hello, at least I'm not dragging you to a midnight showing.

I laugh my ass off everytime I come across 'Pierre Poutine'. I shouldn't laugh, because the implications are really messed up but I still LOL every fucking time. I'm thinking of picking up an eReader or something and I'm going to name it Pierre Poutine. Genius. Aw. My spell check doesn't recognize poutine :(

My mom is convinced that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Asian. I can't convince her that he's just some dude from California. It's kind of hilarious.

Apparently, I'm now reading 'The Losers' porn. *shrug* This is ALL Chris Evans' fault. Bastard.
mirareeves: (Giddy up)
Am I hallucinating, or does LJ look different?

So my parents leave in 3 days and I've had to cram my holiday movie watching into 4 days. Double features all week long except for today because, well. My ass couldn't take it.

Sherlock Holmes 2 - Gayer than Sherlock 1. I complained that there wasn't enough Holmes/Watson in the first movie, and it's like Guy Ritchie went 'OK LET ME MAKE IT UP TO YOU'. Thanks, Guy Ritchie. Not quite as fun as the first, but still enjoyable. Also, RDJ makes for terrible drag.

MI4: Ghost Protocol - Lame title, surprisingly good movie. Brad Bird is a genius. See it in IMAX if you can, it's so fucking worth it. I could watch Jeremy Renner in just about anything and I'm so glad I dragged my ass to this, even if it's a Tom Cruise movie. Whoever tailored Jeremy Renner's pants should get every gold star on the planet. Good lord, the lunges! Seriously. And him kicking people in the head was such a turn on, I don't know what I'll do when Bourne 4 comes out. I might die. Oh, and Paula Patton is blazingly hot. Kind of wooden, but really hot.

Oh, and the teaser trailer prologue thingamabob for TDK? Fucking awesome. Tom hardy could get it. Anytime. Anywhere.

Tin Tin - So much fun. I was so afraid it would suck, but it's so good. Childhood, intact! But I saw it before they attached the trailer of 'The Hobbit' to it. When I found out, I was not pleased. I mean, I can watch it online now, but it's not the same.

Speaking of, ASHKLHF. I cannot fucking wait for that fucking movie. Who the hell was that playing Thorin? Yum. Are dwarves supposed to be yummy?

Shame - Goddamn you, Michael Fassbender. You are ruining my life.

I've still gotta see Young Adult, The Artist and Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy. I wish they were all in IMAX, the seats are so much comfier.

Uh. Sup, y'all.
mirareeves: (Tom Hardy)
So a handful of movies got re-released in IMAX for 1 week only. And because I have nothing better to do, I did a double feature of Star Trek XI and Inception. It's been ages since I've done a movie solo, even longer since I've done the whole back to back thing. My ass was numb afterwards, but um. Worth it? Totally.

Shit. I don't know why I didn't just see both movies in IMAX when they first came out. Tom Hardy + IMAX = greatest shit ever. EVER. When 'This Means War' comes out, will it be in IMAX? Because Tom Hardy and Chris Pine's mouths would be absolutely epic in IMAX.

They had a trailer for Mission Impossible 4 in front of both movies and after it ended, I seriously thought about getting up to high five everybody (15 people, give or take). That was a good looking trailer. I would follow Jeremy Renner anywhere, and having him kick people in the head while wearing a suit is like. Hhnngkk. And um. Even Tom Cruise is looking hot. What the hell?

I shall be seeing MI:4 in IMAX. Anyhoo.

I bought myself a new pair of boots. They're black leather motorcycle boots and there are buckles everywhere and I feel kind of badass when I wear them. Look at how awesome I look while kicking you in the nads! I actually needed to buy a new pair of pumps, but I got all distracted. I hate shopping for pumps.

The Good Wife )

So my delicious is borked. I'm not sure what they're doing over there, but I'm pretty much done with them. Auto-reply is like the worst shit ever. I'm starting over completely (OH THE HUMANITY) and I know I won't get everything back but it's nice to rediscover shit as I come across it. My account consisted mostly of food and porn and foodporn so it's not like it was important or whatever. Just. Everything was so tidy and organized. Luckily, I print out most recipes so I have copies of them, they're just in a binder and there's no system to it. Ugh.

Oh, and my parents are headed down under for the holiday. They'll basically be doing the same thing I did last year, just in January. When apparently Australia is at it's hottest. Ha. I spent about 1900 total (CA to OZ to NZ and back)on flights when I went, and they're at about 7K for theirs. They keep searching for cheaper, but they're going in high season, so I doubt they'd do better.
mirareeves: (Will & Diane)
So Real Sports is showing the Rugby World Cup afterall. The lady I talked to a couple of weeks ago is slow or something. I'm going to call them again (yeah, a 3rd time) to make sure before I head out and watch NZ-Canada saturday night. I'm going alone, since all my friends are all, Nuit Blanche! I'm like, you have all night you can't spare 2 hours? Whatever.

'The Good Wife' is back and it is AWESOME.

Spoilers )

I've said it before and I'ma keep on it. Watch this show. You will not regret it.

'Terra Nova' sucked. Completely uninteresting and boring, which is weird because Stephen Lang (and his ridic arms OMG) is none of those things. I'll watch only because there's nothing else on at that time and said ridiculous arms.

Um. So what the hell happened to delicious? I've lost nearly half my bookmarks and all my tags are...gone. *sigh*
mirareeves: (JGL)
Argh. Mumford & Sons is sold out. Booo.

So. TIFF is over and I'm fucking exhausted. I did 3 movies. I probably spent more time in line, having little old ladies sneeze on me than actually watching movies, but they say it's part of the experience. Who am I to argue? I can't imagine how people go through 10, let alone the ones who do 30+.

Those people are fucking insane.

'Take Shelter' was OK. It started off great, lost a bit of steam towards the middle and never really got me back. Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain are amazing in it, though. We didn't stick around for Q&A (we were starving) but she popped up on stage to intro the movie and she was in this really hot, black halter jumpsuit. I coveted it, hard.

'The Deep Blue Sea' was a total dud for me. Like it ended, and I'm like WTF did I just watch? Really slow and melodramatic and I felt nothing for any of the characters. Tom Hiddleston is a total hotass, though.

The HitRecord thing wasn't really a movie but we went anyhow. It started late and was really rushed but Joseph Gordon-Levitt is adorable, when he's not aggressively selling. So, like, 50% of the time. And I don't know if he's still around, but I'm pretty sure that was you, [livejournal.com profile] superstition78 that got pulled on stage.

Aight. I'm off to watch Team Canada get trounced by Team France at the World Cup.
mirareeves: (Warrior)
'Warrior' is fantastic. Holy shit. I went in expecting to like it, what's not to like about really hot dudes beating the crap out of each other, right? Man, I didn't expect to be so invested. Like, I spent the last 15 minutes of the movie with my heart in my throat. I wanted everybody to win. So good. And it was very well paced. Like, it didn't feel like a two and a half hour movie. It just zipped by.

Also. GODDAMN. TOM HARDY. That guy is a fucking beast. Holy god, his shoulders in this movie are incredible.

My one quibble? The accents. Joel Edgerton's wandered into Irish territory, and god knows where the hell Tom Hardy thought he was. Jamaica and NYC, maybe? I LOLed at it several times. Lucky for you, he don't talk much?

Anyway. Go watch it, even if MMA doesn't do anything for you. It's a lovely story.

And remember when I said I hadn't done TIFF in years because of how they run things? Fuck. I know there are a lot of people, I know that it's hard to accommodate everybody, but seriously. WHAT THE FUCK. Do you know how fucked it is that people start actively wishing ticketmaster was doing the selling? Those guys are fucking crooks, but let me tell you, I kind of wish ticketmaster was in charge of this shit.

Jesus.
mirareeves: (Vive la France)
Anyone in Toronto know of a place (other than Scallywags) that's playing the Rugby World Cup? I shouldn't be so goddamn picky, but I'd rather avoid it if I could. I just want to see the finals, France-Canada, NZ-Canada and NZ-France. I was hoping Real Sports would have it, but apparently not. Ugh. What's the point of all them TV's?

I ask this question every 4 years and every 4 years, I find myself at freaking Scallywags.
mirareeves: (Mr. Mira)
First things first. Happy belated birthday to the hubby. That hot bitch turned 47 yesterday. He don't look a day over 30. I feel like I should have cake in his honor. Maybe tomorrow.

So. For the first time in like, 5 years, I'm doing the film festival. You'd think that after all this time, they'd have worked out the kinks with their ticketing, but it's still as broken as ever. Normally, I just stalk a red carpet or two, but I had some time so I figured why not. Also, who the hell starts selling tickets at 7am on saturday morning? On a long weekend, no less? Really TIFF?

Ugh.

We're seeing 'The Deep Blue Sea' and 'Take Shelter'. I wanted to see 'Like Crazy' but there were conflicts. Also, we're doing JGL's HitRecord thing, and good lord I'm old, because I've been bitching about the 11pm start time all day long. THATS TOO LATE I'M NOT 22 ANYMORE.

So our washing machine has been on the fritz for like 2 months and we were trying to fix it ourselves, except we've no idea what we are doing and now it's dead. I did a load by hand yesterday and my arms are so sore. It's because of my tiny little hands. I can't wring anything out properly, so I just hung everything up soaking wet. I can't believe people used to do this by hand.

*whine*

Oh, and we're supposed to get our new washer today, and they're like between 10am and 4pm. Jebus. And the bastard called after my ridiculous laundry adventure. Bastard. My arms feel like limp noodles.
mirareeves: (Default)
OK, so I think I'm officially done with 'True Blood'. Jesus, what a mess. And I know that's half the fun right there, but I just can't take it anymore. It helps that some kind soul at ONTD_ASkars (or whatever it is) has uploaded all of his scenes. LOL.

And and now I can watch 'Suits' without having to download it. YESSS. Finally.

So let's see. Saw 'Fright Night' this weekend. Surprisingly good. Cheesy and bloody and hilarious. Not really all that scary though. And Colin Farrell is looking mighty fine. I mean, it's not a lot coming from me, since I'd have done him during his unwashed, drugged up 'Miami Vice' days. But you know.

And the soundtrack for the movie is kind of awesome.

Also, what up Anton Yelchin. Look at you all grown up and ripped as hell.

Speaking of the Yelchin, I was bored and rewatched the Star Trek reboot the other day. Some thoughts.

a)where is the sequel and
b)I want all the Kirk/Sulu in all the world and
c)why isn't there more Kirk/Sulu in all the world

I don't know what changed since 2009, but now I'm all *grabbyhands*

Um. Yes. Hi.
mirareeves: (Default)
Saw Captain America this weekend and it was awesome. I was a little iffy about Chris Evans, but he is quite good. He did a great job with Steve Rogers pre-experiment, and I loved him in all his earnestness.

Spoilers, probably )
mirareeves: (Default)
So. I'm finally done with A Dance with Dragons. I liked it, but I dunno. Like, it dragged in a few places, and when I read it again, I'll definitely be skimming a few chapters. And the flow of the book is weird to me, I'm not sure what it is.

Spoilers. )

Damn. I really hope we don't have to wait another 5 years for this shit.
mirareeves: (Default)
Ugh. U2 was fucking awesome last night. A ton of old stuff, a lot from Acthung Baby, not a lot of new stuff so yeah. Awesome. And they finally played my favourite U2 song ever. I've been waiting years to hear 'Until the End of the World' and I when I first heard it, I had to clutch at Booboo for support.

And Larry is still the hottest thing ever. I say that all the time, but goddamn. God. Damn.

[livejournal.com profile] powder_blue, I wanted to come over and say hi, but we were clear across the stadium. We even got there a little early, but it still took us 20 minutes just to make it to our section.

Oh, and Jason Spezza was there, and I seriously considered booing him. And I'm pretty sure Chris Murphy from Sloane sat in front of us and he was kind of obnoxious, too. *shrug*

A Dance with Dragons is out today, and it's supposed to be in my mailbox today or tomorrow and I'm hoping for today but I'm thinking I'm not that lucky. Ugh. I've been so good about spoilers, but this is killing me. I don't want to wait an extra day. COME ON CANADA POST. MAKE ME HAPPY AND SURPRISE ME.

OMG I was shopping on saturday, and I took a break as the mall was closing and sat myself right next to Gabriel Macht. I fangirled at him on the inside, because he was with his wife and his adorable daughter. I do have some manners, you know? But not enough to mention that he was in really ugly linen pants and terrible shoes.

Er. Yeah.

EDIT: HOMG IT CAME. THE MAILMAN TOLD ME TO ENJOY. AAAHHHH.
mirareeves: (Bran)
Let's see. Saw Green Lantern and it sucked. I dunno, maybe maybe I expected too much from it, what with all these rather excellent comic book movies of late. Ugh. But yeah, I didn't like it at all. I should have seen First Class again. Aha. And I still don't get why they just didn't put Ryan Reynolds in an actual costume, rather than CGI-ing the damn thing. I'm sure they had their reasons, but well. It was lame.

GoT )

I'M SAD THAT IT'S OVER. I WANT MORE NOW.
mirareeves: (Default)
Does it make me a bad Canadian that I'm pretty gleeful that the Canucks are stinking it up? I mean, the game ain't over yet so you know, anything can happen. But everytime Boston scores, I leap up with a 'Suck it, Sedins!'

LOL. And I fucking hate Tomas Kaberle and Chara but look at me cheering for them. Ugh. I feel dirty.

Also the new season of SYTYCD is on and I'm all over that tapper kid. I didn't even catch his name. Damn.
