About

One day in February of 2008, my family was playing a game called “Would You Rather” and got a card asking whether we’d rather have three questions answered or be able to resurrect someone. The kids and I went for the three questions, but Ron was hesitating over resurrection. “Oh come on,” I said, “necromancy never pays; literature shows us this over and over.”
“Oh yeah,” Ron said, “The Monkey’s Paw.”
And then we went on to the next card. Some things are just clear, once you remember all the stuff you’ve read about them.

    Hi Jeanne,
I love horror stories and I think you’ve picked a great name for your blog. And you were right, in the end it’s better not to choose this option. Look at poor Frankenstein.

I should start a blog reviewing blog names, and give yours five stars!

Thanks for the reminder. I don’t know how or when I read that story (and mentally credited it to Poe), but I must have. It is similar to the stories of making deals with the Devil: you can’t win. Great blog title.

    Very well written
I totally agree with the monkey’s paw story. Such things do extract a very heavy price, literally and symbolically
