About “Obsecrations”

Obsecrations: pleadings for love & tolerance through Christ is my second WordPress blog — my first and primary blog is GRACE PARTAKERS which you can find easily at http://lambskinny.wordpress.com.

An obsecration is a pleading. Not here to debate, only to state a case for a life of love, gentleness, peace, self-acceptance, other-acceptance, tolerance, wisdom, holiness.

In the minds of some, ‘holiness’ is not associated at any meaningful level with love, gentleness, peace, self and other acceptance, wisdom or tolerance. Holiness, somehow, is a separate entity from these fruits of the Spirit. In my opinion here on Obsecrations, holiness is not separate from love. Without love, holiness is hollow. Let us love one another, and so ‘be perfect’ as our Heavenly Father is perfect.

And, that’s what OBSECRATIONS is all about.

I’m looking forward following your work here Carley. Now if I can just learn to pronounce your new favorite word. Have a blessed day.

ahb- suh- kray- shunz is the false phonetic way to pronounce the word “obsecrations” as far as I can tell from the dictionary beside me. It’s a rare noun meaning “earnest pleading or supplication” with its origin — late Middle English, from the Latin obsecrare ‘entreat’ and based on sacer or ‘sacred.’

Thanks so much, mtsweat. Glad to have you ‘on board.’ God bless.
      Carley

Obsecrations:what a needed and wonderful concept, Carley! I’ll be returning to watch grace unfold at both of your sites.

  3. Carley, Amen to the relationship of Love and Holiness. God is Love. Love is God. Not the self-motivated and selfish love of the fallen heart but the indwelling presence of God via the Holy Spirit. When He dwells within, fruits will come forth. Those perfect fruits are Righteousness.

Jas 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 15 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.’

Love (God) never faileth when He is allowed to bathe us with its power.
