patchcat: (Read it in a Porno)

I saw that [personal profile] jelazakazone was doing the [community profile] snowflake_challenge, checked it out, thought it looked interesting, and figured I'd give it a try. I will say that some of this is probably going to be a bit difficult of for me since I don't do too well in the self-promotion department, but hey! All in the name of the new year and getting out of comfort zones, yeah?

Anyway, the challenge started yesterday, so I'm going to do Day One and Day Two in the same post.

Day One

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Iris -- This is probably my favorite thing that I've written to date. It was one of the first things I wrote in the Inuyasha fandom that I felt captured the characters, and I love the soft, gentle feel it has.

Hold Me Tight, Let Me Go -- I don't do character death. Like, at all. Yeah, I'm a self-professed angst whore, I don't mind reading it, but I don't write it. Ever. Until I wrote this. Why's it a favorite? Because I really liked the emotion in it.

Apocalypse Dreams -- Okay, so this one isn't the best thing I've ever written. It was rushed, the premise was a bit contrived, and there's a little bit of a flow issue. BUT! It's one of my favorite pieces. Why? Three words: Fucking. Zombie. Kittens. XD

Day Two

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

Okay, so. First, I'm going to direct y'all to my recs tag.

Now, three works I haven't recommended before:

Winter of the Fall by [personal profile] fuzzytomato02 -- Of course it couldn't be an ordinary cold snap. Of course there was something supernatural to it. That was just how things worked in Beacon Hills. (or five times Stiles was cold and one time he wasn’t.)
I love this story. I love Stiles' snark and I love the situations he finds himself (cold) in, and I love the relationship build. Also, Sasquatch. 'Nuff said.

Counting to Infinity by artenon -- When Derek goes deaf, he finds himself going to Stiles for help. Stiles does.
Derek goes deaf. That's a lot to deal with when you're an alpha werewolf, and artenon handled it well. You can feel Derek's desperation and his fear and all the other emotions to one can only imagine happen when one loses a sense. Just beautifully written, and so very real.

JenNova's Famous Last Words series -- A series of 'made-them-do-its' which ended up telling a much bigger story.
This series made me laugh, it made me, well, not cry, but -- Let's just say that it gave me all kinds of feels and leave it at that, yeah. Because it did. Well written and one of my favorite tropes, insert-scenario-here made them do it. The range of things that makes them do it, and the emotions that neither expected to be involved makes for a well-rounded -- and hot -- series that I can't wait to read again sometime soon.

Yay! It is a good way to gently get back into things. I like this challenge.

LOL. It happens (to me too, sometimes:))

Ooh, I did. I wasn't really on the internet when I saw it. Hm. Any chance you would post a fortune once a week and always link back to the master post?
