Though they said, “It’s a wreck,” I am glad
it was not so remarkably bad.
It was not even worse
than a line of this verse
and for that I am gratefully glad.
Esther Chilton offers “wreck” as the prompt for this week’s Laughing Along With A Limerick.

If you were sitting at the round table having lunch with Ernest Hemingway and his friends and fellow writer’s, would you be willing to bet $10 that Hemingway couldn’t write a novel in six words? Well, apparently everyone at the table ponied up $10 each to find out.
Hemingway then took a napkin and wrote out six words and it was passed around the table until it came back to him and without objection he claimed his winnings.
Hemingway has been cited as one of the founders of flash fiction and his six word novel proves it as far as I’m concerned.
Please enjoy Hemingway’s six word novel!

I think the old cliche, “A picture is worth a thousand words” is a big lie told by artist’s and their industry friends who want to make their works seem more important!

When you take your best shot, there’s a chance you can miss…but then there’s a chance your best shot can be a hit with a Miss – to quote Pat Benatar – “Fire Away”

Do not sin and betray the trust of your lover,
but if you have or if you do,
you must keep silent
and bear the burden
alone – forever
the pain and the shame is yours to bear
in silence to the grave
Do not be the whimpering coward
or the heartless monster
that longs to confess and
seek forgiveness
from the one you betrayed
do not worsen the injury
and wrong by revealing it
Do not destroy the love and trust
your lover still has for you
even though you know
you don’t deserve it
even though you have betrayed it
just so you can escape the mental torment
of your sin with their forgiveness
Your confession and request for forgiveness
would be just as cruel as your betrayal
keep silent and live with the knowledge
of your betrayal
do not stain the soul
and break the heart of your beloved
with your cowardly and pathetic confession
Have the courage and strength
to withstand your soul’s contempt

I put my penny in the bank
to save for rainy days.
The years went by all bright and dry
so there my penny stays.
Esther Chilton offers “bank” for this week’s Writing Prompts.

There are many of the same expressions that are found in almost every language on the planet. This sarcastic one is universal –
Q -How do you say “F” you in __________?
A- “TRUST ME”
It was fakity, fakity fake,
but we bought it since it came with cake.
And the cake tasted good
like a real, good cake should,
but the message was fakity fake.
Esther Chilton offers “fake” as the prompt for this week’s Laughing Along With A Limerick.
