Realignment of higher education commission in the spirit of 18th amendment

Increase in education budget, enhanced enrolment

After fiscal devolution, provincial budget spending on education increased manifold. Federal fiscal transfer to the provinces enabled them to increase allocation for the education sector. Bet increase resulting in enhanced enrolment.

Article 25A incorporated into the constitution

Education was made compulsory for all in the constitution of Pakistan by the Pakistan Peoples Party when Article 25A was inserted into it.

Curriculum was decentralized

Long standing demand of provinces to decentralize curriculum was approved by the parliament. All provinces except Punjab included human rights issues in their respective curriculums.

Women representation at top positions of education sector

PPP’s governments always stood for the rights of women and empowered them. In the field of education, six female university Vice Chancellors were appointed by PPP governments. Enhancement of women representation at the top leadership positions in the field of education was also observed.

Lifting ban on student unions

Dictators have always tried to hold hostage student unions however, PPP’s government lifted the ban on student unions to encourage their participation in important decisions.
