Professor George Lewith Award
In memory of the great integrative medicine researcher, Professor George Lewith, this is an annual award for the best early career project that addresses our aim to “promote research that will widen the availability of and access to safe and effective complementary medicine for patients within the National Health Service in the UK”. There is a prize of £100 available each year.
To submit your project for consideration please send an abstract to info@rccm.org.uk. The closing date for each annual award is 31st October.
Eligibility criteria:
- Individual RCCM members are eligible to enter, as well as two from each of our corporate members (see our list of corporate members).
- Students or early career researchers (up to six years post-PhD).
- Project needs to have results – protocols and plans are not eligible.
Professor George Lewith Award Prize Winner 2025
We are delighted to announce that Nick Lowe is the winner of the Prof George Lewith Award 2025 for their project “Exploring clinical outcomes associated with acupuncture and traditional East Asian medicine: analysis of clinical registry and case report data”.
The judges felt it was a great pilot study with a clear rationale and good data collection and analysis methods. They anticipated that we will hear more from this project and look forward to it being taken forward into NHS settings.
Professor George Lewith Award Prize Winner 2024
We are delighted to announce that Klara Dolakova is the winner of the Prof George Lewith Award 2024 for her project “Models towards incorporation of TCIM interventions within the UK healthcare service: findings from a qualitative study”.
The judges felt this was an important topic to explore and relevant to integrative medicine at the moment. They highlighted the project’s value in looking at what is lacking in integrative care as regards collaborative/cooperative models, and in providing models/pathways for others to adopt.

We are delighted to announce that Mandy Brass was the winner of the Prof George Lewith Award 2023 for her project “Evaluating the outcomes and patient experience of group and individual acupuncture in an NHS cancer care setting: a mixed methods study”.
