Pairings Discussion
Jan. 26th, 2019 02:28 pmgen or shippy trauma recovery fics?
Jan. 6th, 2019 02:10 pmcontent warning: discussion of (fictional) trauma, assault
Hi folks! one of the reasons I got super into Batman and comics in general is the big meaty FEELINGS that lie just below the surface (or like, are the blatant focus) of every story. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations of recovery fics in general for the Batfam? Not only for specific traumas, but also just dealing with the toll that fighting for several hours every night inevitably has after several years. I'm a big Tim Drake fan, but I'll read anything about anyone!! I'll start with a few recs of my own, to get the ball rolling.
Stargazer: an amaaazing Jason-centric fic about learning to be part of the family again after his resurrection. so so so good and feeling-ful and brutal. and it has a happy ending!
All your resolve (dissolves): requires some knowledge of the second season of Young Justice. some great Tim POV as he watches Dick self-destruct. No real resolution but I like it as a look at what guilt and trauma look like outside of battle-time
(apologies in advance for the self-rec) I wrote "no" and other four letter words" which was intended to be about Dick's assault by Tarantula but ended up being about all the Robins coping with sexual violence. I think it has a pretty happy ending, even if not everything is wrapped up neatly.
If you have any more fics in this sort of introspective recovery-focused vein, please comment!! I would love to read 'em :) self-recs welcome ofc

Quick Question About Damian Wayne
Dec. 23rd, 2018 09:26 amAs a Bedouin tribesman, Ra's was presumably raised Muslim. Even if he wasn't, is he the sort to tolerate his family worshiping other gods before him? I don't think for a second that Damian was raised Christian. How about you? Do you think any of the rest of the family ever really considered that possibility?
Do you have any head canon you'd like to share about Damian and Christmas? Personally, I imagine his first one was intensely awkward. Bruce was "dead, " everyone was simultaneously sad and nostalgic, not to mention expecting him to instinctively know how to behave. He's more or less gotten the hang of things by his third, but the taste of Alfred's Christmas cookies still make him anxious in ways he can't explain.
