Asked by [personal profile] author_by_night: Have you ever been on a summer road trip? If not, would you ever want to go on a road trip?

I've definitely been on summer road trips, mainly when I was younger. One big one that I remember (that we have home video of) is traveling across the country to visit my aunts and uncles. It took quite a long time to get there, perhaps a week? Aside from that, I've gone on some road trips since then that aren't as long, not always during the summer. I think the last one was to Los Angeles, which took roughly the whole day to get there.

Road trips are interesting because it really depends on who you're traveling with and how things are planned out, and how one can handle sitting in a moving vehicle for hours at a time if you didn't bring something with you to keep you entertained. It can be merely exhausting just sitting for hours at a time, and, because I live in America, while there are some interesting sights to see especially once you get to places you're unfamiliar with there are also prolonged periods of time where it's just a long stretch of road with nothing to see, that you'll be relieved once you see something like a rural area or a field and other pieces of nature and not just road and other vehicles. Plus there is also something really special about rest stops, those areas in the middle of nowhere.

Asked by [personal profile] kissapentu: Top 5 female whedon-verse TV characters.

01. Faith Lehane (Buffy the Vampire Slayer / Angel)
02. River Tam (Firefly)
03. Priya Tsetsang/Sierra (Dollhouse)
04. Cordelia Chase (Buffy the Vampire Slayer / Angel)
05. Inara Serra (Firefly)

This was both hard and yet not that hard to choose, since obviously I have my top favorite characters from each show, as you can see, but I also have other female characters that I love so dearly and don't want to exclude. Gah! But anyway, yeah.

Asked by [personal profile] author_by_night: Do you have any unpopular opinions or hot takes about Buffy?

*cracks knuckles*

My unpopular opinions and hot takes on BTVS. )

That's all I can think of at the moment, but believe me, I have plenty of thoughts and opinions (unpopular or not) regarding Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I adore the show, and over the years have gathered a lot of feelings about certain things.

Asked by [personal profile] blackcatofmisery: If you could pitch your ideal series, what would it be about?

Again, this is something I'm not quite sure how to answer by not having specific details or even a fully formed idea of what my ideal series would be about. Sorry this was lackluster of a response to your question. :(

Asked by [personal profile] verdande_mi: What film/series reboot that didn't happen do you wish had gotten a proper chance?

Well, as I keep saying, I'm tired of reboots. We've been living in this age of rebooting/remaking everything underneath the sun that if there was something that I had initially wished had been rebooted, I'm glad that it wasn't because it most likely wouldn't live up to expectations or further expand upon the original and just be another disappointing cheap cash grab. Although I will say, while I was indifferent towards it, I'm bummed about the BTVS sequel reboot, New Sunnydale, if only because the circumstances of how it was axed before it even got the chance to air makes me incredibly bitter and upset on behalf of SMG and the rest of the new cast who were excited and hyped up for it. Would it have been good? Hard to say without having seen anything, but it deserved to at least have that chance.

In addition to this, I also think that the Tomb Raider 2018 movie with Alicia Vikander should have gotten its franchise, as it was based around the 2013 reboot games. It was already greenlit for a sequel and ready to go, but then the pandemic hit and whatever contract deadline that was supposed to be met was missed and so it was silently cancelled. I thought the movie was fantastic, and I was yearning for more, and we deserved more, dammit.

Because I accidentally forgot to answer yesterday's question, here's a twofer for today.

Asked by [personal profile] reeby10: What's your favorite holiday and what do you like to do to celebrate?

My favorite holidays are Halloween and Christmas. The decorations and aesthetics of both and also just that time of year in general really get to me and I kinda treat October-December as a big celebration of those two holidays combined. However, I don't really do anything too bombastic for either. I'm the only one in the family that loves Halloween, so I tend to just celebrate on my own by watching horror movies (more than I already do yearly, that is) and just doing a casual dress up at home. Christmas is more celebrated with my family. I love to decorate the house, and we celebrate via dinner and opening presents on Christmas Eve.

Asked by [personal profile] verdande_mi: Who would write, direct and star in your dream-show/film and what would it be about?

Oh geez, I don't even know. All I know is that I would want Bear McCreary to be the composer. That's all I've got so far in my brain.

Asked by [personal profile] blackcatofmisery: What are your feelings about celebrating Independence Day this year?

I have no strong feelings about the Fourth of July one way or another since it was never that deep for me to begin with. We don't really do anything in regards in celebration, not since when I was a kid but even that was just an excuse to visit with relatives, otherwise it's neither here nor there for me, personally. If this is about how this country is now politically, it's no different from last year or other years prior. People are going to celebrate, or not celebrate, for whatever reason. I'm mainly going to be concerned about the cats and the booms of the fireworks, that's about it.

My Comments: The crossover pairing of Simon/Ryland Grace (also known as "BloodyMary", their ship name) from Iron Lung and Project Hail Mary has quite a chokehold on me ever since I discovered the ship. Both movies are so different tonally, and yet so similar in themes and share plenty of parallels, including their characters literally being thrown on suicide missions for the greater good and possible survival of life and humanity. It's no wonder why people are drawn to this pairing, let alone crossing over their stories. So yeah, I have fallen deep into this pairing as of recently, and I have no regrets whatsoever. While fanvids are quite scarce at the moment, the few that exist are still a treat to see. These are the only two on YouTube that I found, liked, and wanted to share. There's another one on Tumblr that is very sad, but very well-made, that I hope people can see because the way the person edited it is beautifully heartbreaking.

Asked by [personal profile] author_by_night: What's a show (or other media) that wasn't what you thought it was going to be? Was it a huge disappointment or a pleasant surprise?

I initially thought that Once Upon A Time was going to primarily focus on fairytale characters, both known and obscure, though it quickly became evident after the first season that it was doing the versions of fairytales and stories previously adapted by Disney. Which is fine and all, it just wasn't exactly the direction I had hoped for when I first started watching the show, so it was a bit of a letdown based on my own expectations. Based on what I've learned since then, I wanted something more along the lines of the Fables comics than what the show actually was in the end.

Asked by [personal profile] inchoatewords: What was your first fandom, and what drew you to it?

I'm approaching this with my first online fandoms because, while I had obsessions with various things before, I think being introduced to the online fandom community where I could openly express and share my love for things really took off with my fangirlishness and in a sense these were my first online fandom obsessions, if that makes sense. So going with that, there are several fandoms that, although they didn't all happen at the same time, I kinda lump them together because, in my mind, they kind of were a huge influential part of my first online fandom experiences.

++ I still have days open for my July AMA, for anyone who has missed the post or even want to go back to ask something else for other days.

++ Olivia Rodrigo has announced Daisy Chain Fields, her own one-day music festival that is non-profit and all proceedings via ticket sales will go towards charities advocating towards women and young girls. Many have said that this is essentially Lilith Fair 2.0, and quite frankly that is not too far off. Olivia has proven herself to be quite an advocate on social issues and speaking out on what she believed to be important. I remember her being very outspoken when Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, specifically at Glastonbury Festival the day after the news broke where she directly called out the members of the U.S. Supreme Court who were responsible for the regressive decision. So this festival celebrating women artists and helping women charities and organizations makes sense. Anyway, I just think this is super cool and awesome of her to do. I'm hoping that this is successful enough that it can become an annual event.
