My best friend is going through a divorce from her drug addicted husband. I wanted to make her a happy mix, but realized that wasn't good enough. What I needed to do was give her hope, while also showing that I understood the heartache and fear she's experiencing. So, no, this mix isn't seriously uplifting. It's quiet, a bit melancholy, and sweetly optimistic. I hope you enjoy it.

and...i'm back!

So, I go MIA from lj for a few months to, you know, graduate from college and get married. Which was awesome--especially the Maui honeymoon where me and the hubs may have imbibed serious amounts of rum every single night by the pool. Priorities, right?

But, now that things have settled, I decide I need to get back into fandom. I miss it. And there's a lot of stuff on my fangirl docket right now...a Trek horror story, sequels to both the language of grief and the return of the godfather, et cetera.

But then, what broadsides me with the force of a mack fucking truck? Sherlock Holmes on BBC, that's what! Ho shit, that show is GOLDEN. Although it isn't available in the US, there are always ways for intrepid fangirls to get what they want. So go and do thou likewise.

Therefore, instead of fulfilling any of my well-intentioned plans, I get obsessed, scrounge up the sherlock kink meme, turn on some depeche mode and write THIS .

God, I'm going to hell. No fake, Jake. It's an anon post because I was seriously scared at the time. Now, I'm kinda like, fuck it. At least I'm in good company? Depraved company, that is.

Now I'm rocking out to the death proof soundtrack and wishing I was in an old school muscle car, blasting willy deville with a shotgun across my lap. Totally bitchin.

Well, it's official: I have graduated from the University of Oregon. And you know what? I'm fucking tired!

But that may have more to do with the fact that my in-laws stayed in my fucking tiny apartment for an ENTIRE week, which means no space for anyone. And my kitchen got rearranged by my mother-in-law. Ugh.

HOWEVER: I got an iPad as a graduation gift! It's excellent. I keep thinking of it as the iPADD in my mind, because TREK IS LIFE. I've been reading Stephen King ebooks non-stop, in preparation for actually having time to plot my Trek big bang horror explosion.

My current soundtrack for it is basically filled with Depeche Mode, but not the super happy stuff. The darker stuff, about ladies in black and zombie rooms and damaged people. Terrific.

Even more excellent is that I will get to be in Portland from the 27th to around the 3rd. Gonna see my mom, and my cousins, then spend some epic time in Powells trying desperately not to buy every book in their new apocalypse section. I miss Portland so much, and having to stay in Eugene for another year pretty much bites the big one.

Still, if I get accepted to the book publishing Master's program at PSU for the fall of 2011, then I will be back, hopefully for good. And will never, ever live in Eugene again.

And I REALLY want in this book publishing program. The due date for the application isn't until January 18th, but my mother (who graduated from both bachelors/Master's PSU programs--the latter in public planning and policy management) swears that I should get it in as soon as possible, because they look at them in the order in which they were received, I guess. That means I need to design my own portfolio, like my own literary journal mock-up.

Thus, I'm seriously considering attempting to make some sort of online magazine of Trek fanfic, just to practice (and troubleshoot) the whole process before I do my official submission. Would anyone even be interested in something like that?
