Titansfall D&D: Summary for 7/19 Game
In tonight's game, it picked up with the regent, Darius, standing to make his announcement.
He welcomed all of the guests and spoke about the king's death over a year earlier to an illness that had killed many people in Brandar. Then he introduced the future queen, Gemma, and explained that she was the only child of the former king and therefore his heir.
People started looking towards the back of the room, and more and more people stared to turn to look. Gemma was standing at the top of the stairs, wearing beautiful clothes, as she slowly made her way across the room.
Most of the people in the room weren't standing or showing Gemma the proper respect, and Mags pointedly stood up to do so. The rest of the group followed her example, although Petyr kept an eye on Mags's grandmother. She surprised and curious, although her attention seemed to be focused more on Darius than Gemma.
A number of other people were guilted by Mags's actions, and various others started to stand as well and show her respect.
Gemma made a clearly rehearsed speech, talking about who her mother had been and how she'd never met her father but had heard stories about him. She wasn't from Brandar, but she was from Aldryn, and with Darius's help as her regent until she was of age she would do her best to rule the city fairly.
She spoke of reinstating the Farcloaks who had previously been disbanded upon the death of the king. There would also be some type of display over the city later that night that everyone was welcome to watch at the viewing gallery.
Whispers and conversations broke out after her speech was finished, and the group noticed that Paige and Logan appeared in their Farcloak uniforms.
Mags's grandmother said that she was going to make her way to the viewing gallery, and Gale said that they should all go. Gale and Mage headed after Mags's grandmother to the viewing gallery, along with Mags's mother and Giles, while Mags and Petyr stayed downstairs for a bit so that Mags could try to spread positive rumors about Gemma.
Upstairs, Gale and Mage made their way into the viewing gallery, which was almost like a museum. Tapestries hung on the walls, telling the history of Brandar from the time of the titans onward.
Outside, there appeared to be a fireworks display set up around the titan closest to the palace.
Gale spoke with Mags's grandmother for a bit before she walked off to get a drink. They still kept an eye on her, but Gale didn't follow.
Mags and Petyr stayed downstairs for the next hour or so before everyone began moving towards the viewing gallery. As they made their way upstairs, Mags and Gale danced for a bit.
Gemma finally made her way to the viewing gallery herself, and a few of the dukes came up to bow to her. Not all of them did, though, which was unusual but, then again, the whole situation was a bit unusual.
After a while, Giles approached Mags with two drinks in hand and offered one to her. She turned towards Gale who asked: "What? Do I not get a drink?" Giles handed them the other drink in his hands.
He quietly told Mags that he had an update on her former ship, but he didn't think she would appreciate him bringing the topic up in front of her mother and grandmother. The last he'd heard, the Whirlwind had been seen near Wealdstone, but that had been a while ago and he hadn't heard anything since then.
Mags shared her suspicions about the ship's crew wanting to cause unhappiness and maybe that was why they were attacking people who had nothing.
Mage's attention kept being drawn towards the frozen titan outside thanks to his dream. Petyr kept an eye on Mage and made sure he didn't do anything too problematic.
After a while, Gemma came hurrying up to Mage and Petyr with Page and Logan trailing behind her. She thanked them for coming and asked if they wanted to become Farcloaks. Mage said "yes" immediately while Petyr told her that it was perhaps something the group should have a discussion about first.
She then made her way over to ask Gale and Mags, both of whom apologetically told her that they weren't certain being Farcloaks was for them. Then Gale invited Gemma to dance with her, and the three of them headed onto the dance floor to dance for a bit.
Arthur, the reporter who was sitting with the group, came up to Mage and Petyr as he'd seen the new soon-to-be queen speaking with them. Telling them it was still off the record, he asked if there was anything they could share. Mage told him that he was the newest Farcloak, which Arthur seemed impressed to hear.
The conversation eventually shifted to the topic of the recent earthquakes and other odd weather phenomena happening lately. Arthur asked Mage what he thought was behind them, and Petyr quickly spoke in Mage's head to tell him not to tell the reporter about seeing titans walking recently. Mage listened and just told him that he had a gut feeling.
Arthur told him that trusting your instincts was a good idea, a serious look on his face.
Around that moment, there was an earthquake. Everyone froze for a moment but they all shrugged it off fairly quickly since there had been so many of them recently.
Except then there was another one. And another one. And another.
Mage couldn't help but think that they felt like giant footsteps, like the ones from his dreams.
The titan just outside the palace didn't seem to have changed, but the group was well aware that there were two other titans in Brandar. And then the one outside the palace suddenly shifted and moved, slamming the spear that it had aimed at the palace right through the window that people were viewing it through.
A number of people were buried in rubble as the ceiling started to collapse, although Gale managed to keep herself and Gemma free. Logan and Paige got Gemma out of there and went to get Noah.
Gale freed Mags while Mage lifted the stone burying himself and Petyr enough for Petyr to get out. He and Arthur then helped Mage get free. After staring in shock for a bit longer, Arthur headed towards the exit.
The mage from the isles tried to cast Meteor Swarm on the titan, but it didn't work. The wizard then immediately teleported away.
Gale and Mags started to run towards the titan, ignoring Mags's mother as she called for Mags to come with her. Mage and Petyr tried to help the people around them for a moment before running towards the titan as well.
Various people were trying to fight the titan as best they could. Some were guards, but there were also people like waiters and such joining in.
The group quickly realized that any type of magical attack didn't work against the titan, although physical attacks seemed to work even if they didn't do much damage.
Mags was able to make the titan drop its spear so that it had to use unarmed attacks as well.
Eventually, the group and the guards fighting with them were able to make the titan turn away from the palace. It started to walk down the tiers of the city, crushing buildings under its feet as it headed to the outer edge of the city.
Mags cast Dimension Door on her and Gale to go after it so that Gale could try to make the titan stop moving. Gale was able to do so, and Mags called for the others to jump from the palace so she could catch them. Mage jumped without hesitation. Petyr sighed first, but he jumped as well since he knew how Mags and Feather Fall worked.
Petyr played a support role while the others attacked the titan, since his fighting was almost entirely magical. He tried to heal the others as much as possible and give them advantage on their attacks.
At one point, Petyr flickered out of sight for just a moment before reappearing as his wild magic came out to play. At another, Mags switched places with Gale to take an attack in their place.
Seemingly annoyed that Gale didn't seem to be able to die, the titan grabbed Gale and threw them back in the direction of the palace. She slammed through a wall, and one of the guards inside ran over to try to stabilize her.
Mage and Mags both kept attacking the titan.
The titan slammed into the ground, causing fissures that trapped both Mage and Petyr inside them. Mage kept trying to throw his javelin at the titan even while trapped, though, eventually managing to take it down.
Mags got Mage out of the crevice he was trapped in, and then the two of them helped Petyr out. Then they all ran back inside the palace to heal Gale.
The guard who'd stabilized Gale was clearly in shock that Gale and Mage had taken down a titan.
While Mags moved around trying to help heal who she could, Petyr stepped outside for a moment to use Sending to reach out to Bernhard, one of the elders in Lunaris, and Azorick Witton, the head mage they'd met in Windermere. Both confirmed that the titans in their locations were moving too.
The group had no idea what to do next.
And that's where we left off.
