I had a realisation after last session that I think I am ready to retire from my previous go-to park. The original appeal was that the place is dated, and kinda sucks. Its not the hip spot, so it was often secluded enough to feel comfortable getting back into the swing of things.
I extracted everything I needed to from that place. The reality is that falling there hurts more, tricks are harder to land and don't feel satisfying, its always packed with children and parents who don't know what they're doing (which is fine, of course, we all need a place to learn) but in the long run its too draining to keep educating people and/or not be listened to.
Anyway - cool session today. Falling at my new local you just slide like Happy Gilmore on ice. Tricks aren't necessarily easier for me, but landing them feels way better, and when it is packed, its packed with skaters who have some kind of understanding of the unspoken rules: learn and respect other peoples lines, stay out of the way, get up quickly when you fall, apologise when you do make a mistake, don't sit on obstacles, etc etc.
Today wasn't a big progression session, but it was a good day. Just getting outside is a win.
Level up. Go skate.
