Isolation and fear have been constant companions for more than 19 years. In addition, living in a small town on the East Coast offers little in the way of community for domestic violence survivors. Giving voice to recovery in a way that will bring healing to others as well as myself is a big part of the reason I am here sharing with you.
If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, please visit www.nomore.org for a list of domestic violence centers specific to your location. You can also contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at www.hotline.org or call 1-800-799-SAFE (7233). If you feel you are in immediate danger contact your local law enforcement by calling 911.

I have seen few days ago a video for domestic violence campaigne and it left me sick immediatelly. My mum has grown in a domestic violence up until her dad died and I, well I’ve been through some things I rather not talk about, but I give you full support… It is never ever under any circumstances and any situations your fault of anything. Never. Not even for a second.

What a fantastic cause on which to raise awareness! There is so much power and control to be regained through shared cathartic release, especially after surviving something as traumatic as domestic violence. I can’t wait to read everything else your blog has to offer.

Hi Teela,
Thanks for checking out my blog and for the follow. I am a child survivor of a domestic abuse home (among other things) where my dad was an alcoholic and abusive towards my mom. I can very much relate to the little bit I’ve read of your blog thus far. I am glad to see you following the words of Henri Nouwen that I have on my ‘about’ page of my blog where he asks, “How can we put our woundedness in service of others?” God bless you and heal you!

Wow. Such heartfelt stories. I feel your pain and joy… My domestic abuse wasn’t near as violent as yours was but, it was painful and left me feeling like less of a woman; less of a person. I’ve healed… Thanks be to God. I pray that one day my two children will look back and, know that I did the best that I could and did it ALL for them because they mattered most. I pray your children will too, if they haven’t already.
I’m so happy that you are FREE and healing through expressing yourself positively.
Thanks for following my blog.
Have a Beautiful Life. 🙂

Nothing is wasted in God’s economy, Teela; you will be such a strong support to others who are also victims of such horrendous treatment.
You have such a gift in the way you write and express yourself. Keep going.
These verses came to mind for you as I was reading your posts:
“Though you have made me see troubles,
many and bitter,
you will restore my life again;
from the depths of the earth
you will again bring me up.
You will increase my honor
and comfort me once more.” (Psalm 71:20-21)
In my prayers,
Mark.

Thanks for the follow, Teela.
I was reading your blog last night and it’s all so heartbreaking. I can sometimes get so disgusted at the behavior of this animal called human, and in particular males. It used to escape me why people would treat others like that, but now I know it’s just because they have a very dark heart; that they’ve suppressed their spirit; that they are so out of touch with their true selves, they’ve become nothing more than an instinctual animal running on a primitive auto-pilot.
I’m so sorry you had to go through everything you did. No one should be subjected to anything less than great love from others. Period.

Thank you Michael,
It helps to know that you truly care about your fellow man/woman enough to reach out and identify with the trials I and so many others have and still do endure.
Support is everything.
I found encouragement in your blog and I look forward to reading more.

Thank you. Since I’ve been blogging, my eyes have been opened to many horrendous things on a very personal level (it’s easy to get attached to bloggers). But I always stand in complete awe of the strength in women who have gone through these things.
Keep being strong. 🙂
