Curriculum Vitae

The Dark Material is a girly, girly girl, grown-up in body but not in mind, who considers herself asexual in the real world but nonetheless pines eternally for loves lost in others. While afflicted by various disorders - some physical, some mental - the Material does not consider herself broken, and so is uninterested in being "fixed" through traditional therapies that would make effectively her into another person. Owned by numerous cats, dogs, and other assorted animals, the Material distracts herself from reality via reading, role-play, sewing, and dreaming of the day when she comes into a laboratory with an aquarium big enough to host the colossal squid to which her enemies are fed. In the meantime, the Material gets her microscope fix by volunteering to study samples at the barn where, as of yet, she has never broken a nail.

Regarding Access / Reciprocal Access ("Friending")

A comment is appreciated if you add me to your access list and would like to be added to mine (particularly as I may not notice right away). Be aware that due to severe social anxiety and events in which private information was shared without permission, I am being more selective about who is allowed to view protected ("friends-only") content on my journal. If we know each other from another community, be a dear and let me know who you were and where it was?

Regarding Filters

As noted, a number of my entries are friends-only, generally due to intensely-personal subject matter, extreme pettiness, or adult content. I rarely, if ever, utilize user-specific filters. If you find these entries unsettling or offensive, please either scroll past or remove me from your flist, as works best for you. I've reached a point where I no longer have the energy to debate or justify my feelings, so harassing me about it will result in removal from mine.

Regarding Icons

While most of my icons are made with official artwork, photography, or freely-usable avatar creation apps, there are some that contain fanworks of one form or another. I believe I remember receiving permission for most of those, and have included credit where possible - however, there are a few that were gifted to me by other users, or taken from "Up For Grabs" posts, long enough ago that I no longer remember their origins or usage rights. In the event that your work was passed to me in violation of your policies, I've gotten confused and mistaken personal fanart for doujinshi scans, or you would like to revoke previously-granted permissions, please let me know so that I can correct the issue either by adding credit or removing the icon, as you prefer!

thedarkmaterial is the creation and property of Atra Materia (previously ScarletSeraph). Fics and fanart that utilize the works of others will be noted as such.

I'm generally happy to have my fanworks recced and shared, and ask only that you credit appropriately if reposted!
