Three Impasto Abstract Art Prints

Impasto is a style of painting that creates large bold brush strokes by laying the paint on very thickly and was first used in late 18th century Italy. I have attached three abstract art prints I created using that style. Using the impasto style highlights shapes and colors.

The first one is of barren tree branches in the winter. I highlighted the color that was created as the sun was setting and shining on this tree.

The next two art prints were inspired by decorative balls in a basket. I created two displays with two different color schemes.

Thoughts? As I have said before, everyone reacts to visual art techniques and looks differently, so I am not in the least offended by opinions.

He Walks With You Always!!

This week I’m featuring three art prints I created with that theme in mind. As a man of faith I know in my heart I am never alone. Sometimes we may feel that way, but faith paints a different picture. I chose the three prints I created with that theme in mind. As a Christian artist, I seek to make sure that the prayer and thought I am using is a good marriage with the art print I put it on.

In this particular case, the scenery is perfect depicting a hiking trail through a dense forest just outside of North Bend, Washington.

The scenery in this one depicts a path with stairs leading to higher ground on a hiking path through a dense forest just outside of Issaquah, Washington.

My final one is an art print I created using the words “He Walks With You Always” superimposed over an abstract watercolor print. The print depicts a cloudy day on a beach by a harbor with sailboats. A subtle aspect to the print are the two figures walking and talking along the beach in the lower right hand corner.

God Is Our Refuge

God is Our Refuge is an art print I created using a watercolor technique with a biblical quote as an overlay. The serenity of the scene fit perfectly with Psalm 62.8.

Starter Tropical Fauvism Art Prints

I thought it might be fun to look at some of my “starter” art prints I created when I first played with the fauvism technique. The three are all from photographic captures that were taken a number of years ago while on a family vacation with our daughters in Mexico. They start with yours truly checking the surf (it’s usually me taking pics, but one of our girls got dad staring at the surf).

The next one is a simple capture I took of a group of palm trees by the resort we were staying at.

And the last one is a capture of the resort and palm trees.

Street Scenes in Fauvism

This week I’m featuring three “Street Scenes” I created using a fauvism style. They represent scenes from New England to Northern California to the Pacific Northwest.

I’ll start with a scene I captured in New England and turned it into a fauvism art print.

The next one is a setting in the wine country of Northern California.

The last one is a street scene in Seattle, Washington near the sports stadiums prior to a game.

Sepia Tone Photography – Oregon Covered Bridges

This week I’m featuring photographic captures of covered bridges in Oregon using a sepia tone. I love the old rustic look of covered bridges, so I used the sepia tone finish on the photographs. The sepia brown tones originated with film photography as part of the process to develop the prints in the 1800’s. Today, we can recreate that same vintage look digitally.

Seattle Fauvism

This week I’m sharing more fauvism style landscape art prints. These are all in the Seattle area with a focus on sailing on Lake Union and West Point Lighthouse. We’ll start with the Lake Union art prints and finish with West Point Lighthouse.

Lake Union is located just north of downtown and is surrounded by many docks and many sailboats.

Landscapes In Fauvism

This week I’m featuring five art prints of different landscapes using a fauvism oil style. This technique uses abstract brush strokes and surreal colors creating a modern and contemporary look. The landscapes feature scenes from the east coast of the United States to scenes of the desert in the southwest portion of the United States.

Hot Air Balloons In Abstract Watercolor

This week I’m sharing five art prints I created of Hot Air Balloons using an abstract watercolor technique. Four of them are depicting evening time frames from an event in Avondale, Arizona. The only daytime depicted is based on a late afternoon flight in San Diego, California.

The following balloon envelopes are inflated in the early morning hours for flights and races. After that series of events, the balloons are deflated until the evening hours when the envelopes are again inflated, but this time they stay on the ground. As evening turns into night with the darkening sky, the balloon operators shoot large flames up into the envelope of the balloon illuminating the brightly colored balloons. At this event the operators were synchronized to music, making the series of balloons rotate the glow to the beat of the tunes. This nighttime spectacular is referred to as The Desert Glow.

The last art print is in San Diego County near the coast of the Pacific Ocean. San Diego is famous for its sunset rides. As the sun sets over the Pacific Ocean, the onshore flow of winds decrease allowing the balloons to drift inland and descend for a landing before it gets dark.

Three Art Techniques – One Patio Fountain

This week I’m featuring three different art prints I created using the same subject matter. In this case it’s a small patio fountain.

Image
Garden Fountain

The first art print was created using a soft watercolor technique. This technique uses sketched shapes and soft colors.

With this art print I used a pointillism watercolor technique. This technique uses soft circle shaped brush strokes and subtle colors.

This final print I created using a colored pencil sketching technique. This technique uses diagonal lines and bright colors.
