Прочитал вторую статью Алексея Любжина о русской цивилизации (мои впечатления от первой статьи здесь).

Понял для себя несколько вещей (in no particular order):
1. Почему совкам нравится Трамп.
2. Почему 90-е в России были естественным продолжением советской культурной катастрофы.
3. Люди, говорящие всерьез о Москве как третьем Риме, невежественные дураки.
4. Мне в жизни повезло. Во-первых, моя мама хорошо знала несколько иностранных языков и преподавала французский. Во-вторых, у нас было полное собрание сочинений Чехова, которое я прочитал от корки до корки.
5. Путинская война с Украиной убивает попытки общества создать в России качественное гуманитарное образование (humanities).

Это, наверное, самая интересная мысль, на которую я вышел в русском ЖЖ за многие годы. Интересна она не в контексте России, а в контексте понимания языка как General Purpose Technology (GPT), причем, не в давней истории (< 10,000 BC), a в сравнительно недавних событиях.

Например, легко провести мысленный эксперимент и представить себе, что произошло бы с системой американских законов, если бы американский язык отличался от английского, и Америка начала бы жить по переведенным на тот момент законам. Это означало бы исчезновение всего прецедентного права, всей системы юридического образования, включая отношения в экономике. Реальная катастрофа.
Пример еще более близкого времени: если бы Сингапур после получения независимости сделал китайский язык государственным, то даже если бы они перевели все британские законы на китайский, база британского права стала бы малодоступной.

С другой стороны, отказ от русского языка в Украине после независимости ускорил уход от советских законов и потенциально облегчил, с учетом отношений с ЕС, переход на новую юридическую базу.

Культурные русские люди смотрят из России на происходящее привычно засунув язык в жопу. Очевидно, что несправедливо ожидать от них героизма и выступлений против путинского режима, устроившего бессмысленную кровавую бойню. С другой стороны, когда имеешь дело с культурными русскими людьми, надо понимать, что зажмуривание глаз и засовывание языка в жопу стало у них стандартной реакцией на подлость и преступления. Это еще хуже, чем выученная беспомощность.
