It’s been a long road for the Adversaries. Five megaberrations lay dead, the Red Hand is slowly losing fingers, deals have been made with monstrosities from before the existence of time. And in all this, Avaruuk and Farga have never quite found the time to chitchat about “what the innerwyrm even is a human?”

So, to remedy this, Avaruuk sits down next to Farga as the evening draws to a close. The Giant-Spider-Dream-Gun is trying to get the Unflinchingly-Stony-Dream-Dog to play with it, the Adversaries are settling in for the evening, and Avaruuk has one burning question on their mind. “Hey Farga,” they wait until she acknowledges them, “is it true humans keep goblinoids as slaves?”

(private convo)

It’s been a loooong, emotional day for Avaruuk an Wikkewödr.

Things are looking pretty bright, though. Between the intel from the Gatekeepers and Koth’s advice, they feel like they have more of a grip on this whole… apocalypse-thwarting crusade they’re on. Also, they just had a nice talk with Zevun. Well, there was talking and then there was the kissing and – Viran!

Avaruuk’s carefree jaunt comes to a jerking halt, which probably looks pretty funny to anyone who’s watching. Oh bugbear! I mean, they’ve known they were crushing pretty hard on both hobgoblins for a while now. And it was all fine and well when there was too much going on to do anything about it. But now… they’d kissed Zevun! And earlier, in the river, had they just imagined it or had Viran been about to kiss them? What do… people do in this situation? There had never been time in Avar’s life for even one such moment before, and now they’d had two in one day!

There was only one thing to do, Avar decided. They had to tell Viran about the kiss. But what if that meant she no longer wanted anything to do with them? Well… that was a risk they had to take. Scout’s honor and all…

They were so busy mumbling to themself about the various ways in which stopping a genocidal cult seemed easier than working through one’s feelings that they almost walked right past Viranishek’s bedroll. Luckily, she was awake and apparently concerned enough by Avar’s behavior that she cleared her throat loudly to draw their attention.

Avaruuk let out the most unscoutly squawk, immediately shushed themself, and sat/collapsed into an almost-casual cross-legged position. “Ummm… can we talk?”

Avaruuk is still reeling a bit from how astoundingly well the day's events unfolded. The reign of the Sons of Blood Ghost is nearing an end, Lokhaash's mission will soon be complete. A few months on the road and several hostile takeovers have given Avar some experience with this kind of thing, however. They know that winning the duel was only the first step, and that the next ones are even more crucial.

Kantaan is bound to serve them, and Chinghat carries the blood of leaders, but both are young and inexperienced. Many things must be planned. The scouts must be organized once more for the protection of the Wikkewodr. The people must find a place to see out the war. There's a bunch of new conscripts and some few prisoners who probably don't need to be making the trip to the Badlands. Something must be found for the Sons to do because otherwise they will probably think up something stupid on their own (and why waste the manpower of 20 good berserkers). Most importantly, a leader with a good vision and an ear for wisdom must be found.

There's one person Avar has always been able to rely on for wisdom, and they can only hope the old hobgoblin is up for one more adventure.

Once things have settled down a bit, they turn to Chinghat and say "Let's go see Rhuutzhowachaash."

(Wikkewödr conscript after Battle in Drellin’s Ferry, open RP)

With the prospect of a rather violent homecoming on the horizon, Avaruuk feels the need to speak to someone from the old clan. Of course, Viran and the triplets are doing important stuff and shouldn’t be bothered. That leaves this young fellow whom we just picked up. They recognize him somewhat as one of Viranishek’s kin (was it… Chogaenosh?), though if memory serves this one was one of the few Wikkewödr who left with the original Kulkor Zhul envoys. Well, he was happy enough to break rank just a little while ago, so perhaps life under the Red Hand did not agree with him. Come on Avar, there’s only one way to find out.

“Good to see you again!” The scout claps a hand on the young man’s shoulder, “Today aside, how have you been?”

(Takes place after we returned from Rhestilor, before sending Zinum to escort the Temtemr and Katla to watch the Harrowblades. Private convo)

With Witchcross continuing to afford some “people aren’t actively trying to stab us” downtime, Avaruuk follows up on some recent information they’ve received. After a brief search (greatest Valeborn scout in a generation, folks!), they find Zinum and Katla deep in conversation about some engrossing subject.

“Hail, friends! I’m sorry to interrupt your conversation, but I had hoped you might have time to help me with a particular problem I’m having. Bladebeaber Zevun told me that during the bridge rebuilding mission, you both did your fair share to keep spirits high. She was ecstatic about the chance to hear some real art performed. She compared you, Zinum, to the old saxhorn maestro Kaniyjiy. And you, Katla, she said hearing you unfold your words must have been what listening to Tuupak felt like. Apparently she is some kind of huge Dhakaani music buff. I hate to intrude upon you like this, but I find myself needing your help.”

(Takes place during the Hot Springs episode. Private convo)

Avaruuk feels emboldened by the positive conversations they’ve had with Viranishek and Koth today. They feel informed by the... neutral conversation with Shaseshday and Ninol. With a dangerous trip to Rhestilor looming on the horizon, they figure they should get all their ducks in a row. They decide to approach Zevun. The two have shared a few snippets of banter in the time since Varaathr Draal, but nothing as deep as the conversation they had that day on the battlements.

After checking that there are no impending orcish cannonballs or other likely interruptions, Avaruuk swims their way over to where Zevun has settled down. “So… the water’s pretty nice here. It seems to be doing everyone some good. How are you feeling after the events of Skull Gorge? I mean… that is… unless you would rather not talk about it?”

Miha nar Serani, awkward human illusionist, has been revealed to be an aranea spy for haKulkor Zhul! Luckily, the powers of forgiveness and friendship won her over to the Adversaries. While Koth and Agatha ready the diagram for travel to Thelanis, Lledhyxshek has an opportunity to talk to Miha before they leave for a bit.

Mihaserani is now gradually relaxing her form - she has four hairy spider legs supporting a very oddly curved torso that one might identify as a thorax AND abdomen, if one were particularly astute at fantasy entomology, and her fingers have developed way more joints than one is used to on a humanoid. She bares her fangs in a smirk when Shek intimates through shy body language that they want to talk, and she starts off the conversation with "So I'm surprised you forgave me; I would assume your moral code to be a little less forgiving than the others. Have I misunderstood Majykr knights?"

Despite often finding themselves thrust together in combat, Avaruuk and Viranishek haven't had much time to talk one-on-one since their hasty departure from Wikkewödr haDar. A nice hot springs episode seems like the perfect time to bond, so Avaruuk approaches Viran while they are both enjoying the restorative waters of the Yellow Witch.

"How goes it with you?" they manage to get out after a (probably too lengthy) period of silence and disarming (read: awkward) smiling.

Avaruuk likes to keep up with their projects, such as Koth's redemption arc. They also don't like to leave trails unexplored, and there's been a question of the Koth's underline books weighing on them since Varaathr Draal. The evening of "not running from people or running after people" in Witchcross provides an opportunity to satisfy both those impulses.

They approach the mage, clearing their throat to alert xem to their presence. They remove their weapon belt and set it on the ground before approaching the mage. "You have done much to gain esteem among us. I applaud those efforts. I also promise there will be no surprise dismemberment today."

They gesture to indicate their wish to sit, and await the mage's permission.

Avaruuk feels refreshed and emboldened after their evening in Witchcross. The recent revelations from their conversations with Juuzheth and the High Druids, however, have left them with several questions regarding the origins of Tiyamat worship. Since they recently discovered that they can have a conversation with Shaseshday without needing to disembowel something afterwards, they decide to give it a shot.

They approach the diminutive cleric with their hands empty and visible, trying to appear nonthreatening while being twice her size and a noted aggressor of her compatriots.

"I have a service to ask of you"

[To Avaruuk]

Some time after defeating Dhaenet and Khiymulek, it dawns on Jinx that Koth is maybe a member of group now. She needs to talk this out with someone she's spoken to before, someone she has shared her feelings with in the past.

Jinx approaches Avaruuk one afternoon after the battle against Dhaenet and Khiymulek while they are traveling. "So um, have you noticed that this little creep is just always with us now? What, is xe like, part of our group? Are we supposed to pretend that xe didn't almost kill Shek, cause you to get pierced by one of those Salarians, and wound all of us with that acid rain?"

She's really on a roll now, remembering the stress, fear, and pain of the fight at Varaathr Draal. "I'm not okay with that. I don't trust xem, and I don't like the idea of letting those MASSIVE bygones be bygones, no matter what weird justification xe has for xyr actions. I just. . . don't want xem around, and I don't want anyone, xem or us, to forget the pain xe's caused. It's not right xe gets to be all chummy with the rest of the party now.

"I don't know what to do. I feel like someone needs to pay for what happened a Varathaar Draal."
She looks up at Avaruuk, hoping they feel the same way or can provide her with some direction.

After dinner, Jinx heads out of the dining area to the eastern battlement, where she sees Avaruuk walking alone. She noticed that they stuck around only long enough to get a plate of food, then quickly left the crowded dining area in favor of eating by themself. She approaches them cautiously, but wearing a friendly, calm expression.

"Sooo that whole void-worshipping thing went better than we both expected, I think. I've never seen anything like it before. Have you?"

1/ Since we kind of moved right from regrouping with the non-combatants to entering Varaathr Draal, we hadn’t assigned Tubbus to spec-ing out any of the 2nd platoon loot. In the interest of saving 2 game hours, can we retcon that Tubbus was working on the katana/wakizashi from the second bladebearer?
2/ I assume the banded mail and 2*masterwork studded leather are medium-sized. Are they better than what the GUWO orcs are wearing?
3/ Same with the remaining katana and 2*wakizashi. Should they go to the GUWO orcs? Would the goblin scouts be able to use the wakizashi at all?

[Mostly directed toward Shek since they are the only person Jinx can see as of now, just after combat ended] Hooookay. Did you see that? The big freaky dog thing with the face skin made its own little baby just so it could eat it. What. the. fuck. Have you ever seen anything like that before? Do you know what it is? Are there any more around here? Where did it come from? I am Jinx, by the way. Thank you for helping me out of that camp.
