My wife questioned my last title, as she thought I was completely crazy, when I said the speeder looked like a cupcake, with the crenelation around the bottom looking like a cake case, and the dome being a well risen cake. So todays post will probably get me a one way trip to an asylum, but them's the breaks ! LOL So I have finished the rest of the detailing, and painted the model, unfortunately, I forgot to take any pictures of the completed sculpt, and just have the final painted version.
I have to say I was happy with the weathering and dirt on this one, although the shade is not 100 % right I'm happy with it, not sure what will be next, depends what get's finished first, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

DeleteMatey, this is so good! I think the painting looks great and altho a little more bright than the screen version, it'll stand out all the more, yet stay iconic on a tabletop for sure. A+!!!

DeleteThat miniature looks so good, I could eat it! ;) I can see why your wife is a bit confused on this one, in all seriousness. I love the freehand and you really nailed the look of the miniature, I reckon. If you want to try and re-shade the speeder, I'd recommend picking out a color that is as sandy looking as possible (Karak Stone) and really thin it down using water or medium into a wash and put it in the shadows. The tricky thing with this one is that the mini is so round, that the wash may move around to places you don't want it, though that can be solved if you hold it in the right way while it dries.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, far too many calories mate ! LOL the more I've looked at the weathering the happier I am with it, even though it's not exact to the reference, it does tie in well with my gaming boards ! LOL Thank you for the color advice though, will file that away for use later.
