New feature for game developers: Credit Details

By Tracy Poff (2522) on May 01, 2026 · 2 comments

MobyGames records game credits, but those don't tell the whole story. Now, we've added a dedicated space for each game you're credited on, so you can add context to that credit.

You can use this space to talk about the specific work you did, tell an anecdote about your time on the project, or set the record straight when the credits don't reflect what you really contributed.

As always, the record of games you're credited on is built from complete credit listings added by our contributors, drawn from the best sources available to us, such as game manuals, in-game credit rolls, or official websites, and verified by our approvers.

If you haven't already, claim your profile to get access to this and other useful features. We're working on more features for developers who have claimed their profiles, so watch this space for updates.

It's been a while since we posted one of these updates, but not for a lack of activity. In fact, there's been too much to cover in a single news post! We'll post an introduction to the bigger updates soon, but today, let's have an overview of some of the general fixes, improvements, and smaller new features since our last update.

MobyPlus:

  • You can now filter games in the analytics tool by genre
  • You can now view current rankings in the analytics tool, in addition to past months
  • Fix: Research charts now update their styling when dark mode is toggled

Everyone:

  • Game overview pages now display the game's MobyRank, a measure of popularity with visitors
  • Game groups now display games using the game browser, so you can filter large groups and see more information
  • The steam collection sync feature will now add 'unvetted' apps, so your synced collection will be more complete
  • Person pages now display common sites in the sidebar
  • The game group index page can now be sorted by date created
  • New and changed passwords must now meet stricter requirements
  • Developer search now matches across accented/non-accented spellings
  • Where pointing at a company link, the full logo will now be displayed
  • Company name searches (e.g. when adding releases) will now be case-insensitive
  • Scrapers will now avoid adding duplicate promo images
  • Pending revisions now appear under Your Pending Contributions
  • Fix: Various fixes and updates for Playstation, Nintendo Japan, Nintendo APAC, Newgrounds, and Xbox scrapers
  • Fix: Approval emails no longer show the contribution rating twice
  • Fix: NSFW games are excluded from homepage review listings
  • Fix: Game counts on the group index now match the detail view
  • Fix: The include_nsfw toggle is now preserved in group page URLs
  • Fix: The welcome email's account edit link now points to the correct URL
  • Fix: Non-subscribers hitting MobyPlus pages are redirected to the landing page instead of seeing an error message

Approvers:

  • You can now see a list of your recent approval actions
  • Submissions from verified developers are flagged and prioritized in the queue (including list view)
  • Approvers can now search credit entities
  • A note is now displayed on Person edit pages if the person has been merged
  • Fix: Rejected developer entries are now auto-approved when their credit submission is approved
  • Fix: HTML entities in Company Site and Developer Site edit forms now render correctly
  • Fix: The "Link Developer to Submitter" action works again
  • Fix: Links to view revisions related to a game/company/developer now work correctly
  • Fix: Relation approvals are hidden from the queue until both games are approved.

MobyGames Stats - 2025 edition

A new year, a new graph and animated chart! 🥳 The database visualization showing the almost exponential growth in games over the past decades and our noble effort to document them all!
Image

An explanation: each coloured shape in the graph represents a platform. The horizontal axis is time. The vertical axis represents the number of games released and is stacked. So the height of a shape on a given point in time indicates the number of new games released for that platform that year. The total height of the graph on a given point in time shows the total new releases that year. The graph is meant to represent game releases and thus excludes DLC, Special Edition and Compilation items. Each game is represented once for each platform it was released on. The graph uses data from January 12th. The API couldn't filter out cancelled releases, but the volume of them (30+) is imperceptible in the graph.

Feel free to point out interesting info in the graph and your contributions in the thread!

I have also updated the bar chart race I made last year with this year's data:
