ImageWelcome to Monergism

Monergism.com exists to glorify Jesus Christ by equipping the church with free, gospel-centered resources that proclaim salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

A Treasury of Grace for the Global Church

For over two decades, Monergism.com has been a digital wellspring of biblical truth—providing believers worldwide with the riches of historic Christian theology. Our mission is not merely to inform, but to awaken hearts to the glory of Jesus Christ and the life-transforming power of the gospel.

We are convinced that the deepest need of every human soul is not simply more information, but true transformation—rooted in the unshakable promises of God’s Word. In an age marked by confusion, compromise, and spiritual famine, Monergism seeks to nourish the church with enduring truth that sets captives free and strengthens the weary.

“This is eternal life, that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” —John 17:3

Our Heartbeat: To Glorify Christ Alone

Monergism is a ministry rooted in one unshakable conviction: salvation is the sovereign work of God from beginning to end. Apart from His grace, we are dead in our sins and blind to the light of the gospel. But God, in His mercy, raises the dead and opens blind eyes.

This is why we uphold the doctrine of monergism—derived from the Greek monos (alone) and ergon (work)—the glorious truth that regeneration is God’s work alone. It is not a partnership between human will and divine power, but a miracle of sovereign grace.

“I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you.” —Ezekiel 36:26

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.” —John 6:63

A Ministry for This Generation—and the Next

We live in an age when clarity is rare and conviction is often ridiculed. Many drift from the centrality of Christ, enticed by shallow trends or doctrinal fog. But now more than ever, the church needs deep roots in the Word and clear-eyed hope in the gospel.

We stand gladly in the stream of historic Christian orthodoxy—anchored in the Scriptures, shaped by the Reformers, and committed to the glory of God in all things. While our foundation is distinctly Reformed and covenantal, our resources serve the broader body of Christ, wherever the gospel is cherished.

Meet the Editor

John Hendryx, Founder of Monergism.com

I am a servant of Christ and a steward of truth, seeking to make the riches of historic Christian theology freely accessible to the church worldwide.

In many ways, Monergism.com is the outflow of a long pilgrimage—marked by grace, shaped by Scripture, and guided by the conviction that every believer deserves access to trustworthy, God-glorifying doctrine. I'm not a scholar in the traditional sense, but a digital craftsman—gathering, curating, and presenting the works of theological giants in a form that is both beautiful and usable.

If I have any gift, it is this: to bridge the timeless wisdom of the Puritans and Reformers with the tools of the modern age. Whether through typeset eBooks, curated collections, or visual infographics, I aim to make theology not just understandable, but unforgettable—so that the glory of Christ shines through every page, every pixel, and every post.

I often think of myself as a kind of modern-day Geneva pressman—a monk with a digital quill—quietly laboring to make available the church’s greatest treasures. This is not about platform, but about faithfulness. Each resource is offered in the hope that it will strengthen the saints, stir worship, and help the next generation know the doctrines that once turned the world upside down.

“We glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh.” —Philippians 3:3

If Monergism has blessed you, I give thanks. If it falls short in any way, I welcome your gracious correction. Above all, I pray that every visitor who comes here leaves with a deeper love for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Soli Deo Gloria,
John Hendryx

ImageA Call for Clarity and Conviction

We are living in an age of confusion—where many who name the name of Christ drift into vagueness on the most vital truths of our Lord. In such a time, clarity is not optional; it is a mercy. This site exists to shine a steady light on the unchanging glory of Jesus Christ as revealed in the whole counsel of God.

Here you will find no foggy theology, no fashionable evasions. We aim to present Spirit-illuminated, Christ-centered, biblically grounded truth—the kind of doctrine that anchors the soul and exalts the Savior. Our resources span centuries of faithful witness and are united by one purpose: to proclaim the majesty of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

“Contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.” —Jude 3

Our Theological Convictions

Our foundations are rooted in the historic Reformed tradition—confessing the Five Solas of the Reformation, the doctrines of grace, and Covenant Theology. While we ourselves are Presbyterian in doctrine and practice, we joyfully share resources from faithful voices within the broader Reformed family—Reformed Baptists, Anglicans, and conservative Lutherans—brothers and sisters united around the essential truths of the gospel.

We grieve the erosion of sound doctrine in modern evangelicalism. But we do not follow personalities or traditions for their own sake. Our sole authority is Scripture alone, and by God’s grace, we intend to follow it wherever it leads.

When disagreement arises, we speak plainly but seek always to do so with gentleness, humility, and reverence—as those who must give an account (1 Peter 3:15).

A Shared Calling

Let us, as the people of God, return to the Word—not as tourists but as pilgrims. Let us dig deeply, pray dependently, and walk in step with the Spirit. Shallow knowledge will not sustain us. We must be rooted and built up in Christ, established in the truth with thanksgiving.

It is our prayer that this ministry stirs your hunger for the Lord, sharpens your discernment, and draws you into the living fellowship of the risen Christ.

The Center Must Hold

Ignorance of Scripture—especially of its Christ-centered message—is the root of so much spiritual ruin. If Monergism helps even one soul treasure Christ more clearly, trust Him more fully, or follow Him more faithfully, we consider it a sacred reward.

A Prayer for the Work

This project is imperfect and its steward is a sinner saved by grace. But we pray that the Lord will overlook its flaws, forgive its failings, and use it in His mercy for the building up of the church and the salvation of the lost.

If the Holy Spirit is pleased to use these efforts to glorify Christ, it will have been worth every hour. To God alone be the glory.
