Hello, I'm CJ, a journalist and author who has dedicated his journalism career to exposing discrimination and injustices against Muslim communities throughout the world.From Palestine to Kashmir; from Burma to Syria; from India to China; from refugee camps in Europe to those in the South Pacific, my journalism has helped shine a light on some on places the mainstream media too often ignores.Although, I have shared my <a href="https://muckrack.com/cj-werleman" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">investigations</a> and <a href="https://www.trtworld.com/author/675af51937e89bcc56d18b90" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">stories</a> with an array of international cable news programs, including CNN International, BBC News, Sky Channel, TRT World, Al Jazeera, Middle East Eye, Sydney Morning Herald, Byline Times, Indus News, and others.Various news outlets have credited me with being one of the first international journalists to expose details of China's persecution of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang; and one of the first to bring global attention to Myanmar's renewed ethnic cleansing campaign against Rohingya Muslims in 2016.My journalism has earned the ire of foreign governments, including India, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi's regime brought <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/on-tripura-polices-cases-against-lawyers-journalist-under-uapa-supreme-court-says-no-coercive-steps-for-now-2614040" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">charges</a> of "terrorism" against me under a British-colonial-era law for exposing human right abuse against Muslims in Tripura and Assam, a move that invoked condemnation from the Committee to Protect Journalists <a href="https://cpj.org/2021/11/indian-police-open-terror-investigation-into-5-journalists/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">here</a>.The Chinese Government has also publicly targeted me as an "enemy" <a href="https://theprint.in/politics/chinese-diplomat-in-pakistan-goes-on-tweet-rampage-after-uyghur-muslims-fed-pork-reports/134315/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">here,</a> while Israel successfully pressured YouTube into <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGe1tC98kwc&amp;t=94s" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">demonetizing</a> my channel - <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa1_vNx2yAQzFnQWNajUHtg" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">The CJ Werleman Show</a> - which has attracted almost 700,000 subscribers - in an attempt to silence my voice.Having published more than 600 articles for various international news publications, and produced more than 230 podcast episodes, I have done my best to shine a light where there was previously none - in raising awareness for persecuted and repressed Muslim communities in Kashmir, India, Syria, Palestine, China and throughout the Western world.I have <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DJX1FpOT9mA/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">helped</a> Islamic charity organizations Zakat, Droplets of Mercy, and International Red Crescent raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for Palestinian, Rohingya, Uyghur and Syrian refugees,Sadly, however, criticism of Israeli policy and advocacy for Muslim civil rights has long been considered a career killer in the US, and thus far too many journalists choose to turn a blind eye to these injustices in order to maintain their access and profile.
