Hanzala Khan commented on Google On Discovered vs Crawled Not Indexed Quality Issues & AI-Generated Content
But a lot of people are using AI content, and it's still ranking. Google officially states that it rewards high-quality content, "however it is produced". They do not ban AI-generated content. What matters is whether the content is helpful, reliable, and people-first.

Well you have 15 years of experience and started before with nothing.. take some work to save yourself financially but in your free time rebuild what you have without Google , it means whatever you do you'll never recover with google but you could survive and perhaps grow again. People are wising up to the forced slop overviews and are starting to use other methods.

this is what i was/am feeling. rankings are there but traffic is gone. it's painful to watch thousands of hours of high quality work down the drain. even those who do make it to the site, the volume just isn't financially sustainable. makes it even more painful when you see a bit of a recovery, some hope, then the next week, gone. my mentals are at an all time low. after 15 years of doing this, and then forced into trying to get a job in a horrible job market is just another blow. i gave my soul to my business, and it's gone. i'm an empty container. i'm basically dead.

The same still.. don't give up just adapt, but it's true you can recover... Then just evaporate..not through penalties just that now the way Google works has changed.. it's pretty wild to have thousands of top rankings but Google traffic is low.. btw I am actually seeing a change on my side (YMYL) people are not being suckered by the AI slop ranking top and those interested will make the effort to come across your content somehow.

interesting comment from the person who told me this a few months ago: "It's the same names for the last 4 years that moan complain and tell everyone it's all over and to give up yet they keep coming back? There are some people that have and will recover, you might not believe it but then that's why you'll just keep coming back angry with serious personality issues and toxic traits. Maybe it's time to do something new?" i should clarify that while i'm calling this out because your comments to me at that time felt like getting punched and kicked while down, i'm not trying to bash you. we're all on the same team. it sucks....

The amount of let-offs that Argentina gets, you're right you will need it. I'd say you'll have the most of the UK rooting for you.

Yes and by or on July 22 when Google's Q2 earnings are released. Still I hope to see Google show some signs of suffering in search.

The problem is that google decides who to rank based on stupid signals. I might have the best content but if my CWV are lower than the one who copies my content, they will show that. Have you visited google search lately? It sucks and doesn't work any more. And yes, when I try to find something online, I don't want to see shorts about it. I want all the info. Pages like mine with 7m views per month, dropped by 95% and GSC not giving a clue why. People here are not just posting for fun, they are trying to discuss on what is happening in order to find a solution.

Chris McElroy SEO commented on Google On Discovered vs Crawled Not Indexed Quality Issues & AI-Generated Content
What I would say back to John; Google created the monster. Google allowed thin content and massive amounts of it as long as it had a number of backlinks. And you allowed it for years. You taught SEOs to game the system because you rewarded that behavior. As long as it served your ads, you didn't enforce any type of real quality when it comes to content for years. The last time Google cared about content was Penguin and Panda updates. You rewarded people who just put up a thin page and went out and bought a bunch of backlinks and you knew they were bought even though it was against your terms of service. So it's not like Google can complain now when people are throwing up a bunch of AI generated content and getting some of it to rank. You haven't come out and say 100% AI generated content is slop and you're not going to index it. Make a commitment. But you have a conflict of interest because you also want people to use Gemini to generate content. Again you created the monster. If people take advantage of it it's on you not on them.

Like many, traffic has dropped and rankings are still high, actually top 5 high volume keywords now get almost nothing though I do get traffic from other sources which converts very well. I think I soon will also block google from the site as there is no real benefit for one of my particular sites. I think in the fututre you may see niche expert content within AI that gives links along with other avenues and google will just be flooded with junk in a similar way some previous search engines died out. I don't see google as the future where searchers are flocking to find what they need. sure share price is up, quoted visits are up but I don't know anyone that says "google is amazing comapred to XXX" that used to be the case years ago but now its just riding the wave of preevious success. even gemini was woking pretty well last year now it's dumb, forgetful and lies constantly and is over laden with guard rails kinda like chat gpt.

My first thought is your website has been hacked, and therefore I need to be careful. Not very professional, and distracts from the content.
