You've killed a man. Perhaps it was out of fear, hate, thrill, or even love. No matter the reason, the police are onto you. Right now, you are sitting in a cold interrogation room with two police officers. It's going to be fine. They haven't found the body yet. You can get out of this, no problem. Right?

You’ve Killed A Man is a one page solo journaling game that follows the Second Guess System by William Lentz. You will need a d20, a d6, and a method to record your game.

I had fun playing this! The rules were easy enough to follow and I got a decent ending for a first playthrough.

hi! first of all i love the concept of this game dkfjsdjfksd i haven't managed to finish my little campaign yet, but i'm absolutely having a blast (so far i'm getting away with murder hehe)

i'm also a brazilian translator who recently graduated, and i'm trying to work on my portfolio, so i was wondering if you'd allow me to translate your game into Brazillian Portuguese? i'd send the translated file to you so you can post it here on the game page, only ask that i get credited for it :)

either way you game has been a delight to play<3 i'll definitely try some of your other games soon

Aw thanks for the kind words! I'm so glad you're getting away with murder 😇

It'll be such an honour to have you translate my game! And I'll for sure credit you when it comes out. Thanks for trying my game again!

hi!! just sent the file to you by email. thank you so much for letting me translate this fantastic game!! (the police still don't know i killed my neighbor for being too loud at night)

Hi! I've received your email and just sent a reply! Thanks for doing this again :D

(And neighbour being too loud at night as a reason is a justifiable...)

Played a hilarious game of this with a friend (we acted out the scenes, each had a run as interrogator with the other as defendant)

Very funny lore, got arrested for throwing a gluestick at big bird from the muppets, would have been funny if I got away with it. I didn't, but I convinced the guard that both he and big bird were on the challenger disaster,  the challenger disaster being my alibi - despite the interrogation coming in a week after the challenger disaster, with an intact-ish body.

NO why is this so funny 😭It sounds like some improv comedy I'd see on YouTube.

It sounds 10 times more unhinged tbh, that interrogation somehow lead to me owning specsavers, which I tried to plead later on

"Your honour, that's not my gluestick. Also I own specsavers"

(1 edit)

Hired a politician to write a poem akin to THE ODYSSEY about how Elmo is to blame because Elmo owned the glue company that the glue was from

Witness statement

This is hilarious lol NOT ELMO! Elmo did nothing wrong!

But totally trust what the politician has to say about this case. They know their glue stick lore.

lol

also here's how the dna evidence section went

“Of course my hands were on it, it’s glue, my hands are on it all the time!”

“You work at the glue factory, you would have had gloves on”

“it’s from home- OH SHIT”

lol This is giving the same vibe of:

just played a very funny game of this where i was at 0 suspicion the whole time but kept leaving behind incriminating evidence, the cops found my dna on the murder weapon, i remembered Another bit of evidence i left behind, and then they arrested me because i rolled a 2. fun game, 5 stars

edit: this reads as sarcastic but it's 100% not, i was having the time of my life lmao

The cops couldn't decided if your character was a evil genius or a bumbling mess with all the incriminating evidence but that cute 0 suspicion face lol.

Hey there! I made a GUI for your game in Python as part of a uni class. The prof is asking if I could post it on github as project example for the course. I don't want to post it without your permission. If it's cool with you, I'll be sure to give you credit.

Oh wow this is the most interesting thing I've read! Of course you can!!

So if I end with 1 suspicion, the police will always have enough evidence to arrest me no matter what? That seems counterintuitive in that the more suspicion you have the more likely you are to go free. Or is this a game about how suspicion and evidence are not the same thing?

(+1)

Hi! No, you're right. I actually have the two mixed up 😅. It should be: If the result is higher than your Suspicion, the police have nothing on you and you are free to go. If the result is lower than or equal to your Suspicion, the police have enough evidence to arrest you.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm gonna update the pdf. Though it is true that in the game, suspicious and evidence don't necessarily have to match (thinking of cases where you have 1 Suspicion and still ends up not getting away with the murder).

Oh okay thank you for the clarification!

Guess i'm going to be playing all the solo-rpgs made by Wym. In my play through I tried to go for a more campy style and had a blast. Thanks

Thanks! I hope your character had gotten away with the murder. I have some free games around so I hope you can find another one that you like!
