If you take the 30 largest metros in the US and draw a 100 mile radius around their downtown, which has the largest population? (thread) 1. Philadelphia - 30 million 2. NYC - 29.6 mil 3. Riverside - 20.9 mil 4. LA - 19.4 mil 5. Baltimore - 16.5 mil

These houses near me were bought for $150k last year and are being renovated and listed for $450k. So happy to see them preserved but this is a perfect example of how gentrification actually works.

It's a shame more cities don't have beautiful alleys like Philadelphia

Cincinnati has maintained pandemic era outdoor dining areas and is working on expanding them.

Due to new NYC laws, outdoor dining in the city will mostly end this summer for good, as the new fees and the mandate to take down and rebuild each structure every year are too costly. Hey, we might have killed outdoor dining, but we gained 0.4% of our free street parking back!

Is there a more beautiful city hall than Philadelphia City Hall? I can't think of one.

Cincinnati-Columbus-Cleveland are similar to DC-Philly-NYC in their spacing. 250 miles between Cincy and Cleveland and 225 between NYC and DC. Imagine what it would be like to have multiple trains a day connecting Ohio's major cities!

The thing Pittsburgh needs more than anything is more people moving there.

No. On a bad day I spend a half hour in the car. On a good day I spend zero time in the car.

Unpopular Opinion: People should spend more money on cars. You spend a large percentage of life in your car. It makes sense to invest in a car you enjoy.

My hottest take is that Columbus, Dayton, Louisville and Lexington are all suburbs of Cincinnati.

Gentrification isn't the new trendy coffee shop or the 5 over 1 apartment building with the pool. Those things are lagging indicators of the actual process, which plays out without changing the *neighborhood character*.
