Last week we successfully ran hot liquid metal over a wall (under vacuum) and circulated it in a loop for 100 hours straight. This is a major engineering milestone and a significant step toward liquid metal walls in our future devices. #shiny
Only a few types of technologies have ever generated fusion plasmas with electron temperatures higher than 1 keV/10,000,000° C, the temperature of the core of the🌞 With measurements of 3 keV/37M°, FuZE is now the smallest device to do so.
Today we’re excited to unveil #Century, a major new demo of Zap fusion power plant technologies. If the race to develop fusion is a triathlon with science, engineering and commercialization legs, we’re on our bike and pedaling hard. 🚴
One challenge of Zap's #fusion approach is that our electrodes are exposed to intense fluxes of damaging heat, plasma particles and fusion neutrons. 🔥💥⚛️ This new paper describes the issue of electrode durability in our future systems and possible mitigation strategies.
NYTimes covers our latest milestones: first plasmas on our breakeven reactor and a $160 million Series C to fund technology that we’ll need on the other side of breakeven
FuZE-Q, our breakeven device, has made its first plasmas. If breakeven is basecamp, and commercial #fusion is the summit, last week we had a quick breakfast of Masala tea and boiled eggs, packed up our kit and began to climb.🏔️zapenergyinc.com/news/first-pla… 🧵
No one gets into fusion because it's easy.
Our new video looks inside Zap’s facilities to show what motivates our team to take on fusion's challenges, and what makes our technology different. #Fusion#FusionPower#FusionEnergy#PlasmaPhysics#CleanEnergy
A new paper, part of a special collection from the private #fusionenergy industry, gives an overview of our approach, technology, progress and planned path to commercialization. The paper also includes preliminary observations from the first year of FuZE-Q operations.
Last week @ARPAE held their annual #fusionenergy meeting here in Seattle, providing the opportunity to update the broader fusion community on our progress and take a short break from R&D to give a few visitors a peek inside the lab.
