Those who reverently use the word "democracy" should use the far more accurate term "majoritarianism." Advocates of "democracy" are basically arguing for rule by the majority--51% over the rights of the other 49%. Democracy then becomes a system to be avoided whenever possible.

My favorite quote from George Orwell, born 117 years ago today: "There are some ideas so absurd that only an intellectual could believe them; no ordinary man could be such a fool."

Bernie, please lead by example and start by giving back that pile of $ you made from those books to the average workers who shipped & sold those books at Amazon & Barnes & Noble.

What would be truly heroic is if Disney used its profits from Avengers to pay all of its workers a middle class wage, instead of paying its CEO Bob Iger $65.6 million – over 1,400 times as much as the average worker at Disney makes. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

1)Thomas Sowell: "Despite the grand myth that black economic progress began or accelerated with the passage of the civil rights laws & 'war on poverty' of the 1960s, the poverty rate among blacks fell from 87% in 1940 to 47% by 1960--before any of those programs began." 1/2

Profit does indeed drive capitalists to raise prices; it also drives them to cut prices--key to the success of capitalist profiteers like discounters Sam Walton & Jeff Bezos. The 10-year annualized increase in consumer goods prices through August 2021 has been zero (chart).

Ludwig von Mises, b. 139 yrs ago today (in the palindromic year 1881), fled Hitler to come to the US & set up his seminar at NYU, which instructed Murry Rothbard, whose writings instructed me in free-market Austrian economics. So Happy Birthday to my intellectual grandfather!

If women are paid 22% less than men for the same work, then simple math shows that an employer can afford to hire 13 women for practically the same cost of hiring 10 men. W/that huge competitive advantage, even the worst male chauvinists might be reluctant to hire any men at all!

Women are paid roughly 22% less than men on average. How can we solve pay equity? We need policies that lift wages for most workers while also reducing gender and racial/ethnic pay gaps. epi.org/blog/gender-wa…

Probably my favorite quote from Thomas Sowell, b. 94 yrs ago today: “The first lesson of economics is scarcity: There is never enough of anything to satisfy all those who want it. The first lesson of politics is to disregard the first lesson of economics.”

By @TheMilkBarTV & @coldxman own admission, half the plans on this list for regime change were followed through on--& right now Iran, also on the list, is being targeted. Yet amazingly, they dismiss the plans cited by Wesley Clark as irrelevant. Talk about dwelling on Cloud Nine!

.@ComicDaveSmith has repeatedly claimed on some of the biggest podcasts that: “four-star General Wesley Clark saw plans in 2001 for America to overthrow 7 countries in 5 years,” and that “there’s one to go: Iran.” EXCEPT, as @coldxman brilliantly showed in their debate: -Clark

Loaded into an ambulance this past Friday after surgery on a broken ankle bone (& about to turn 80 this November), I accept the tribute of a grateful nation by declaring that I won't accept the Democratic nomination for Prexy (but will still operate my Soho Forum)!
