I'm deeply concerned that some children are attending political protests during the school day.
Even more so if they're taking part in, or being exposed to, antisemitic chants.
This should be treated with the utmost seriousness - missing school for activism is unacceptable.
We know that mobile phones are a source of distraction and bullying in the classroom
Yet, 40% of 14-year-olds report that their lessons were disrupted by phones
So today, we’re banning phones in schools

Despite claiming to have banned phones in schools this is misleading and inaccurate.
The Department for Education have only updated their guidance for schools to ban their use during the school day.
It remains the decision of schools to ban phones which most already do.

No ifs, no buts and no more excuses: parents have a right to know what their children are being taught.
I have acted today to make clear that schools must share RSHE materials with parents.
I am deeply concerned by reports of inappropriate sex education lessons in schools.
We are reviewing sex education guidance to make sure schools are not teaching content that is inappropriate, and schools should ensure they’re making content available to parents if requested.

In 2019 Boris won the election with an 80 seat majority. Since then he has led on our response to Covid and is leading on supporting Ukraine in their critical time of need. These are v difficult times to navigate as we rebuild our country. The Prime Minister has my support.

I am deeply concerned about reports of inappropriate RSHE lessons. Our urgent review will look at how the subject should be taught, protecting children and reassuring parents.
I have also written to schools to remind them of their duty to show parents materials used in lessons.
No more situations where parents are prevented from seeing materials.
No more teaching children topics way beyond their years.
No more teaching of the contested view of gender identity.
That’s what our RSHE guidance will ensure.
