    Kilauea Message 2026-06-27 17:32:01 HST. Tephra that was carried high into the air during episode 50 fountaining may continue to fall on communities and roads in Ka'u today even after lava fountaining has ended.

    Kilauea Message 2026-06-27 17:16:06 HST. Episode 50 ended abruptly at 5:10 p.m. HST after 7 hours of fountaining. The last several minutes consisted of gas jetting, which is common at the end of fountain episodes. Lava covered over 50% of the floor of Halemaʻumaʻu.

    Kilauea Message 2026-06-27 16:50:01 HST. North vent fountain heights are now ~ 330 ft (100 m). Still no fountains or flows from south vent. Eruptive plume is below 10,000 ft (3,000 m) ASL and is being blown towards southwest. Light tephra may fall on Ka'u communities and roads.

    Kilauea Message 2026-06-27 14:24:48 HST. Episode 50 peak effusion rate was ~ 430 cubic yards (330 cubic meters) of lava per second, which is slightly higher than recent episodes. UWD tiltmeter has recorded ~ 10 microradians of deflationary tilt during episode 50 so far.

    Kilauea Message 2026-06-27 14:21:34 HST. HVO ground crews report light fall of Pele's hair in Pahala in the district of Ka'u that began to fall just after 1:00 PM. Additional ash and Pele's hair may be expected to fall in Kaʻu communities and on Highway 11 southwest of Volcano.

    Kilauea Message 2026-06-27 14:18:00 HST. North vent fountains are feeding large lava flows that are covering the floor of Halema'uma'u crater. About 30% of the crater floor has been covered by episode 50 lava flows so far.

    Kilauea Message 2026-06-27 14:17:18 HST. Lava fountains erupting from the north vent are currently reaching heights of ~ 700 ft (200 m). No fountains or flows have erupted from the south vent during episode 50 so far.

    Kilauea Message 2026-06-27 12:14:52 HST. The north vent fountain peaked between 11 am and noon HST. The fountain is now around 700 feet (210 meters) high and is feeding a plume cloud to about 17,000 feet (5000 meters) above sea level that is being blown to the southwest.

    Kilauea Message 2026-06-27 11:41:28 HST. North vent fountain is now about 1000 feet (300 meters) high and ash plume cloud is still about 18000 feet (5500 meters) with material being carried to the southwest.

    Kīlauea Eruption Update — The Big 5-0! Episode 50 of Kīlauea summit lava fountaining began at 10:10 a.m. HST today, June 27, and is ongoing. 
 
This is the 50th lava fountaining episode in the eruption that began in Kīlauea summit caldera in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park on

    Kilauea Message 2026-06-27 11:29:44 HST. North vent fountains are now at about 800 feet (250 meters) high. Top of plume is now over 18,000 feet (5500 meters) above sealevel. Lower levels are carrying ash and Peleʻs hair to the southwest, some ash may fall in the Kaʻu district.

    Kilauea Message 2026-06-27 11:06:29 HST. North vent fountain is approaching 600-700 feet (just under 200 meters), top of plume cloud is around 15,000 feet above sea level.
