El Obeid is on the precipice of an atrocity. Civilians must be protected and allowed to leave safely. We call on the RSF to halt its assault and on all parties to uphold international humanitarian law, ensure humanitarian access, and prevent further bloodshed.

I am deeply alarmed by the immediate and escalating risk of new atrocities in Sudan. We have pushed the UN Security Council to agree unanimously that the RSF assault on El Obeid must stop, that civilians must be protected, and that there will be no impunity for the perpetrators

The @UN Security Council has expressed alarm at the risk of an imminent military offensive by the RSF on El Obeid. The Council demands the RSF immediately halt its assault. All parties must protect civilians and comply with their obligations under international law.

Calling for "all of Lebanon to burn" is a horrendous and abhorrent statement from an Israeli Minister who has rightly been sanctioned by the UK Government. We call on both Israel and Hizballah to comply with the agreed ceasefire, and ensure that all civilians are protected.

Reports of an imminent major offensive on El Obeid Sudan are incredibly alarming. The RSF must pull back immediately. All parties must urgently de-escalate, allow civilians to leave safely, and let aid in. Too many lives have been lost in Sudan. This offensive must stop now
