Shock jock Ben Fordham has asked me to go onto his program. For months he has done nothing but unfairly and inaccurately attack my journalism. I stand by my journalism, as does the ABC, and I won’t be providing him with content. Maybe he should read this about.abc.net.au/statements/abc…

So @AusFedPolice have declared they’re referring my colleague @DanielMOakes to the C’th prosecutors office ... to repeat that: the Australian Federal Police just referred an Australian journalist for prosecution over revelations about alleged unlawful killings by Aus soldiers.

In 25 years as a journalist I’ve met some brave people. People prepared to speak truth to power, to confront authority, to speak out when they know it will hurt them. I’ve never met anyone braver than Braden Chapman

Very proud to have won this gong. But even prouder to be part of the ABC Investigations unit, the best team in the business. Special thanks to @bradenjchapman who is the real deal, the true spirit of the SAS walkleys.com/award-winners/…

Some days restore your faith in why we do journalism…and tough journalism that requires an employer with backbone and a public that cares about what we do. Searching for truth is bloody hard work. Glad for @Ageinvestigates and Chris Masters…two of the best.

This is the sort of fan mail you get for reporting on alleged crimes and misdemeanours by Australia’s special forces. But I’m heartened that a number of former SAS soldiers have contacted me to thank the ABC for bringing these stories to light
