Just look at the difference between the Pairidaeza in #civ7 and civ6! So much greater detail, and loving the characteristic talar building (columnated hall/porch) on one end!

- One of the biggest challenges for #civ7 is to show civilizations are not erased between eras, and I have to say as an architectural historian I love how the layered city is one of the important ways of telling that story. Here you can see the Roman buildings alongside the Norman.
- SO much exciting info revealed today for #civ7, I have no idea where to start with our first video! My big question is if there will be enough civs to make the era changes feel historically accurate? Egypt -> Songhai -> Buganda??

- My first paper as a PhD student was on Tehran’s Ekbatan complex. While a few scholars have written about it, I also learned so much through the active residents’ communities online. Today, I see their shared sadness over the passing of its dev/architect, Rahman Golzar Shabestari.
- Hilarious our discussion of the one-humped camel WAS ACTUALLY SUPER RELEVANT!! 😂 Just a reminder, the dromedary camel is indigenous to the Arabia/Middle East region, unlike the Bactrian camel, which is from Central Asia! #civ7
- Casa de Contratación has been demoted to a unique building for Spain in #civ7, and is no longer a wonder! Fun fact, this building is only where the archives of the agency is today held, and originally was housed at the Alcázar of Seville.
- Not only is Qajar art understudied, but often the focus of this period is on Iran's relationship with European art. In my own research, I hope to bring the Ottoman and Qajar artistic cultures in conversation. For example: 1/3I think Qajar art is seriously underrated by art historians, as the Qajar period in general by historians of Iran, both in Iran and in Western academia. As an outsider (an Ottomanist) I find this episode of Iranian history extremely interesting and creative.
